Another E85 tune from RRE
« on: July 12, 2008, 09:53:12 AM »

A guy i know from EvoM drove about 500 miles from Arizona to get a clutch installed and E85 tune from RRE/Dr. Gray:

[quote=Jim in Tucson;5878409]and all I can say is WOW!

Based on skiracer’s results in this thread, I took a road trip out to Road Race Engineering yesterday and had Scot Gray lay the 91 and E85 map-switching tunes on my VIII. I could not be more pleased.

My hat’s off to skiracer for showing up last night for the dyno session!!! Thanks for the moral support!

My full mod list is:

BR cone filter
BR SS MAF pipe
Hallman MBC
APS dual vent BOV/DV
Helix down pipe
Helix test pipe
Greddy EVO2 cat-back (modified to 3")
HKS 264/264 cams
Nisei LICP
Walbro 255Lph fuel pump
IX turbo
PPI ported ex manifold
SS O2 housing
ETS 3” FMIC
RC 1,000cc injectors

Scot managed to squeeze out 319whp/286trq on 91 at 21psi.  I was a bit disappointed to say the least. I had previously made 318whp/311trq on the local heart-breaker Mustang. I was hoping to do better, not worse. First I loose my mind, and then I loose my torque. I was kinda bummed.

However, the E85 elixir did not disappoint; it is absolutely stunning. Scot dialed in a blistering 394whp/418trq at 28psi.

My EVO is currently the E85 record holder for most torque on this dyno. woot! woot!

The only down side was that I had to switch to the 91 tune for the drive back to Tucson.

The power level of the IX turbo on E85 is as close to perfection as I can imagine. It make fifth gear feel like 3rd and 3rd gear feel like 1st. This is far and away the best mod I've done yet!

Nice.   I need a boost to my torque.  i only put down 369tq and 380hp with my E85 tune.  I thought about running the test pipe, but decided to go with the high flow cat...  Not sure how much that costed me.

^+11111111111 " i dont think a stock clutch can take that much torque... and if he drove 500 miles to RRE for a clutch. i hope he didnt just get another stock one.  Afro maybe a thugline-po-boy' special... 2funny"

very good . skiracer for E85 spokesperson...lol
i'll most likely be looking into this upgrade.  that boost is crazy... its great that with a MBC you can boost up so high.  ppl that have a EBC level out around 30psi.... good thing mine is good for at leat 35psi+

how much power you putting down on e85?

to tell u the truth im not sure i know its was realyl significant and probably somewhere around what skiracer's numbers where when he had those smaller injectors but if i can take C6's with a catback and intake on rolling start then maybe somewhere north of 350hp to the wheels if i took them.

im not sure what c6's with those bolt ons make to the wheels but id say maybe around 360?

I never dyno'd my E85 tune using 660cc injectors, only did a street tune. However, the butt dyno says its fast   Afro

i think 1000cc's are optimal for stock turbo'ish configurations if you're running E85 often.  If you don't plan on filling up on E85 often, you can probably getaway using your 720cc's.
