EVO X Cosworth Cam Testing
« on: September 25, 2008, 03:01:22 AM »

Dude, I love this job. Just ran the Cosworth cams on a already ECUTek tuned EVOX. The car had intake, full exhaust, upper and lower I/C piping, biggee i/c. Nice MBC. Stock fuel system. One of the strongest cars I have dynoed and tuned so far before the cams install. 91 octane.

This is before and after. Before tuned and running good. After is cams only, no other mods and not re-tuned. Same boost before and after.

Then did a little tuning. Added a degree of ignition advance between 3500 and 6000 since there was no knock or timing pull. Played with MIVEC a little. Overall about three tweaks as time allowed. ECUTeK takes a long tome to upload changes. Boost controller was untouched.

So, overall Cosworth cams gains with the cams installed and some touchup tuning.

Fun stuff. These are an early release pair. Production ones are still a few weeks away. EVO 9s are turning to the old and busted more every day.  Cheesy

That's amazing!  Very nice stuff and the extra power over a similarly modded IX should cover up some of the weight gain issues.  Nice work Mike

Hi Mike,

Was wondering can this be applied to the Evo10MR (SST) too  and can the SST transmission take it?     10q

I might have to re-consider my options before any modifications are made to my Lancer Evolution 9. I might just have to trade it in. Time will tell. These are great results.

They are not releasing details till they hit the shelves in October.

With an SST tranny I would keep things to about 350 at the wheels and very reversable for a good year or so. Let someone else find the limits and pay $9k for a new tranny out of warranty. Your MR will be lots of fun with an intake, full exhaust and a tune.

What the hell makes this X so damn strong? I didn't see a list of mods, what else does it have? Besides the cams obviously... That just sounds rediculous, I wish I was up around that power... damn.
