    EVO VIII Wing

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I have my original VIII wing that never got replaced at SCMITSUBISHI. I went there back when it was on recall and they ordered me a new one. They then gave it to someone else. this happened twice and by the end I was out of warranty and just let it go since I didnt have my car for awhile. Anyone know where I could have it repaired? or can I just have it sanded down and recleared?

your best bet is to probably have someone sand it down and re-clear it. or did what I did for my MR back then - painted over the CF with a matte black paint.

Also, wings come up for like $50 on here a lot. You could jut pick up a second wing and then do whatever you want with the old wing (i.e. have a body shop reclear it, sand it down and make it an all CF wing...whatever). The easiest thing to do would be to take it off, cover the bolt holes with some electrical tape or vinyl stickers, and take the wing to your preferred body shop to have it recleared.

I went to some local shops and a lot of them seem hesitant. I saw a guy on youtube just recleared it but one of the shops started talking about using resin since it was down to the fiber. Just want it done right.

You can diy... I sanded mine down and resprayed it. Looked new when I was done. Sanding it takes a long ass time though. Or you could have rolotech or someone just wrap it in carbon vinyl.

I've had this (re-clear coating) done. Be aware that you will end up doing it again in a few years. My '03 wing needs re-clear coated for a third time now.

Did you just rattle can it? Or do you have some real painting gear? Did you sand and buff after or anything? Did you lay the clear thick or light sheets?

I just finished sanding several wings down to bare carbon (the entire wing).
Currently at the body shop awaiting a quality clear coat job. Should be done by the end of next week.
I will post pics once I get them back.

Yes I'm going to sell them....

I did all the work, except I leave the clear coating to a pro body shop.

You may be able to restore it by wet sanding and polising yourself, if you have an orbital buffer.

Mister I may be interested in one, depending on price, when they're available.

I will post up when they are done.
Most likely going to be around $350 picked up or $400 shipped.
