    Smog Experience: July 2014

Although I've been following the threads of "OBDII only smog-testing", I wasn't aware that it already went into effect.

Perhaps this .pdf sets it straight:
    http://www.bar.ca.gov/80_BARResource...Spring2014.pdf

I've owned my RS for 5 years, and had to smog it once before. No issues with visual or sniffer test even with modifications. Most mods are hidden, and Carb sticker in place on the intake. Tuned on 91.

I went today, 2 years later...wondering if my further modded, (although discreet!) car would even show up on the machine with it's E85 tune.

The Tech drove it into the garage, did a quick visual and hooked up the diagnostics. Literally 5 minutes later they backed it out. I was assuming it failed on something since they never put the sensor in the tail-pipe. The owner called me in...and said: "Congrats, you passed."

Anyway, good for another 2 years! ;D

    Congrats!

Good to know that they finally implemented this new testing program. I have been following it a little too, and was wondering when they'd finally get it off the ground. No more sniffer. Just gotta keep that ECU happy now. (and keep hiding mods)

Thanks. Let's just say I have BBK Full and all supporting mods: 440awhp at RRE. (Stock engine: No cams or O2 housing...HFC in place.)

To the untrained eye, I'm sure most people would just notice an intake:

Damn, I gotta do this some time within the next 3 weeks. So most likely, you were on E85 when you went in, expecting to go on the sniffer.

Yeah. It passed on 91 in the past with no issues. But, since I've been running E85 for the past year, I just left it at that.

    Good luck in your test.
