I burn about 4 gallons for a full session on streets, x5 sessions, 4 5 gallons tanks.

Four five gallon jugs plus filling your tank on the way should be enough depending on how many sessions you do and how many laps per session. I usually go to the Propel station at the Sylmar Chevron (off the 5 freeway at Roxford) is super convenient.

Yeah, my last time out at Fontana, I would get 2 hot laps before fuel starve, on a completely topped off tank of E85.

Time to get sponsored for a surge tank set up.

What's life like day to day running a surge tank? I get it that it's a must have when running high G's but otherwise, isn't it a PITA running with that much fuel pressure all the time?

Lol, that would be nice, especially with a rock tearing a whole in my bumper last weekend, and possibly diff issues

But yeah, surge tank + baffled oil pan = top of the need to do list.

Wasn't aware that a surge tank meant high fuel pressure. Thought that it'd be fine with properly set up return lines and regulator?

The one that we ran this year is super loud, but thats because it's right where the back seat used to be. it was even in a metal enclosure (per Time Attack rules) because it was inside the main cabin area. If you mount it in your trunk area it won't be that bad. The external fuel pump is what makes the most noise. You can probably mount the external fuel pump somewhere that it won't be as loud like maybe on the bottom of the car to eliminate the noise factor, just run the lines in the appropriate manner.

Edit: Come to learn that the surge tank itself can act as a restriction to the fuel return path. I suppose this can be depend on individual design, plumbing, choice of lines, etc.

I agree that SOW is a better starter track. It's more like an XXL auto-x. S2K is a great track car. Have fun!

i ran a 1:46 LOL my 2nd session and I was stuck behind this 240 and accord, the accord wouldn't let any of us pass even when being flagged. I should've went into the hot pit to reset but was too into the moment. I had a really tough time at the right turn before the chicane and also the bowl. car kept wanting to understeer but I think its because the front tires were wearing out and I needed to lower the damper.

I had originally signed up for Sunday but had to switch. Sunday night obligation i couldn't re-schedule and didn't want to have to cut it short. I guess your diff is alright? What was the fix?

Sorry, didn't see that you replied :/

Not sure. Checked the car out as best as I could, the rear axles have a bit of side to side play, and every time I jerk it side to side there's a high-pitched clunk, but from throwing it around a little on a back road, I couldn't reproduce the weird noise and the car didn't handle or feel weird. (Obviously can't recreate the hard cornering of the track on the street though)

Compared it to another X, and the side to side play of the axles is noticeably less than on my car, but just going to hope it's me being paranoid, and just take it back to the track and test it.

But pshhh, you're obligation's at night :P I end up back home before 6pm most track days at Willow Springs

Had a blast yesterday. Streets is a lot of fun, and everyone was right that it is very mellow. Drove the car home, only casualties is the rubber i need to take off today. My tape job didn't quite protect everything haha.

Can't wait to go back. Good luck today Jeff!

I was there yesterday in the Miata for the Roadster cup. Ended up putting down a 1:35.2 in my bone stock NB1. I need suspension mods badly lol
