Yeah so I lost my last key. I called a local locksmith and they want 150 to recut a new key. Is there a cheaper way around this?

Your key has a chip in it.. Last time my friend lost his key he had to get it towed to mitsu for them to make him a new one. which was around that price..
Dang. I wonder if I have a spare key hidden somewhere since I have a Clifford alarm and think I read somewhere that you have to have one near the alarm box for the alarm to work. Any truth in that?
That is only if you have a remote start alarm, they have to put a key near it so that it can sense the Immobilizer. Hopefully it is not as bad as Toyota units, when all keys are lost they have to re-seed the ECU to remove the old keys (they will not work after so good if lost) and re program in new key/keys which is like $288 just in labor plus keys. Good luck to you, but there are a lot of locksmiths that can program new keys on the cheap.
Cool thanks guys.
What did you end up doing? And how much was it?
I found the key in my sons toolbox in his toy bin. Then a week later found the other key in my ski pants! So I ordered two more keys and will be getting them cut and I will self program them. Sorry for not replying I just saw this again.
