Anyone know a good shower repairman? (OC area)

One of our shower knobs broke and i took it apart to see if its an easy DIY. turns out there's a bit more to it. Anyone know someone they can recommend?

Is it a 3 handle type or a single? Did the whole handle come off including the stem or just handle. Post pic if you can. It usually isn't too bad of a repair unles the whole valve needs to be replaced then you will have break up the wall behind the valve.

If it is just the handle and the stem is still there you can go and get. New handle with the new plastic piece that goes over the metal stem. That should just come out using some pliers or channel locks, then get the new one on by hand and should be golden. But pic will be best to see what exactly is going on.

Is that a piece of the stem still in the little hole? If it is then it looks like the whole valve needs to be replaced. You would have break up the back side wall to get to it and then ofcourse repair that after replacing the whole valve assembly. It's more time consuming then anything.

Take off that metal sleeve and then you can pull the whole center cartridge out. The stem comes out with the center cartridge. The problem is going to be able to find a replacement cartridge not knowing the brand but you can take that with you to a hardware store and they can problem get you a replacement. If you can get that then you won't have to replace the whole valve assembly. When you remove the cartridge you need to make sure the main water supply is shut off and turn a faucet or 2 on before removing the cartridge. When you remove the sleeve there should be something like a clip or coder pin that hold the center cartridge in place (thats the center piece with the white plastic and stem). Good luck and left me know if you need help.

thanks guys. i talked to my dad and we'll go to the hardware store tomorrow after work. worst case scenario is get a plumber to do it. i've replaced regular plumbing before, but this looked a lot weird to me.

if anyone knows someone local let me know. thanks again :)

thanks for the offer. the problem with the shower area is the whole thing is one piece (tub and wall around it). its not like a conventional shower where the tiles are individually put together over the tub. im guessing this was for cost and ease of assembly.

ill let you know if thursday comes and its still out of commission. where are you located by the way?
