I just got my 014 jan from MKB(gone now) when my dad called said he was sick and wanted me to come pick up some guns and ammo. so at 1800 miles I got my second oil change and made the over 3k round trip. once you get in to Oregon they have 93 octane a the pumps, it also a state law you don't pump your own gas. anyways going over grants pass was fun: on the return trip I did a 20 hour stint going though central valley CA, the longest straights roads I have ever seen. I did hit 135 because..well the road Gods.
    called for it.

would have been funny to get pulled over, and have them look in the my car a the time. 3 hand guns, two BA-30/30 1-12G 1-223 1-5.66 and some thousand rounds....all legit but still armed to the teeth

    Well in that case...

Everytime i go up to Laguna Seca and it's daytime, i try to make a point of taking the 198 to cut over from the 5 to the 101. Anybody familiar with that road? I never hear about it but i swear it is one of the best roads we have in the state. Long, beautiful, insanely technical and deadly in some spots.

What's up guys! I'm back reviving this thread. This time I will be heading from the Monterey, CA (Laguna Seca area for those who don't know where it's at) to Las Vegas in the Evo. I'm thinking two or three stops of fuel should get me there safely? I'm back on my stock wheels so I'm going to raise it up before I leave and get another alignment. This will be my first time in Vegas so I'm pretty excited For my 22nd Birthday.

I drove my evo on a fresh build from California to Tennessee. I have a 4.0 final drive. I did get very great gas mileage on a 500hp evo 8.

Wow good luck and Happy Birthday man! The trip is around 495 or so miles, so just rounding it out to an even 500, you should be fine with 3 stops on the way to Vegas.

No but happy birthday! :) Watch out for road debris, my friend just made the trip, on the way there a rock cracked his windshield, and on the way back, a rock cracked his headlight :x

^Jeff is right. you gotta be careful.

Last time we went to vegas in an Evo was in 2009, and we wrapped the front end including the mirrors in case we were hit by rocks or whatnot. overkill, but it helped keep the nose clean. this was on our first Evo X GSR back then.

This trip isn't until September (labor day weekend) I'll be heading out Wednesday at midnight lol I figure by the time I start hitting the desert areas there will be some light so I wont hit anything that might be on the road lol.
Side Note: I'll join the group later when I get home.
Side side note: Heck yeah i'll be at cannery row tomorrow for "Exotics on Cannery Row" 4pm-8pm

It's sick up there right now. Saw some awesome stuff last weekend at the Pre Reunion.

Drove 877 miles last weekend round trip....OC to Santa Cruz, then down to the hotel in Salinas, and then worked at Laguna Seca Friday, Saturday and Sunday, then back home.

Anyone check out hwy 198? The 46 is kinda screwed up with construction so i took the 198 on the way home this time. That road is epic.

There are a bunch of McLarens, Porsche, Ferraris, Lambos, classics, etc... in town this week. I saw a Porsche 918/P1/LaFerrari up close and I think I would take the 918 over the McLaren P1 if I had that kind of money lol the 918 beat the P1 track time at Laguna Seca... Might be the best hyper car right now, except the Ferrari LaFerrari didn't want to try it out at Laguna Seca so who knows..

And those highways are nice but there has been a bunch of accidents lately in the area, 3 of them have been fatal. Take a drive down highway 1 from Monterey to Big Sur if you haven't already. Best road I have ever been on just gotta be careful since most of the road doesn't have guard rails on the side. Last thing you want is to fall down those steep cliffs into the rocks/ocean lol
