Want to see my turbo? (Yes I'm a newb)

Just another fellow evo owner here and a "newb" to socalevo.net. I figure I should come out of the shadows and stop being a lurker. I have had my evo 9 MR SE since it was new and hope to get it going a little more within the next 12 months.

Attached is little bit of a custom turbo. Its a ball bearing FP Black in the stock compressor housing and turbine. I spoke with Michael at FP and told him I needed a 100% stock appearing turbo, due to red and blue lights behind me. According to FP it shouldn't surge if I drive like a sane person… lol

I already have a lot of parts on the car but in the next 6 months I'm thinking about the following for power mods:

    Spoolinup COP
    FIC 1650CC high z
    Buschur double pumper
TScomptuned speed density intake with big K&N (may substitute for a carb legal intake that can fit the big K&N) < Any suggestions?
    STM EGR block off
    Synapse diverter valve
    JMF UICP
    JMF Intercooler
Ralliart LICP with big J pipe
FP ball bearing Black with 18 psi gate ported by Curt Brown
FP exhaust manifold ported by Curt Brown
Invidia O2 housing ported by Curt Brown
    QTP downpipe with electric cutout
Tuning Tech Tune with ECU boost and speed density
Competition Clutch stage 2 series 2100
STM upper and lower clutch line
Buschur racing shifter base and under hood bushings
New Valve cover with the driver side outlet hogged out to 5/8 with a breather filter, no catchcan.

Things that will stay stock for a while: cat, catback exhaust, intake manifold, throttle body, stock cams. All maintenance has been done on the car.

Any feedback would definitely be appreciated. I really want to do cams too but when you add cams, springs, retainers, headstuds and labor it will be out of reach for a while.

    Thank for stopping by,

    Nick

damn, you've had your account for quite a while but welcome! berry nice list there and post some pictures of your car as well. I'm down to see some car porn lol my cousin's car is an MR SE too. loved it when I was the owner and definitely miss it but doesn't have many mods. nonetheless, it's still awesome

Thanks! Will take some pics this weekend at Tuning Tech. Need a new alternator

I still need to buy the fuel injectors and pump and send the other stuff I already have out for porting…

Very nice, should make decent power and be fun on the streets.

    Original owner, sweet!

CARB legal intake sounds like a good idea if you are worried about the po po.

Invidia o2 housing...maybe put a provision for the factory heat shield on there? I'd probably just stick with the stock diverter valve too as the Synapse might blow your spot.

Filter on the breather port... definitely won't help the cops give you a pass, could get messy, and assuming you are using a properly designed catch can then routing the breather to the compressor inlet pipe can actually be beneficial for a number of reasons.

Thanks for the feedback! I know HKS, AEM, Injen and K&N make CARB legal intakes, or they use to.. Which one would be best to stick the massive 9" K&N filter directly to the pipe. (No mass air sensor)

It appears the HKS intake pipe really opens up at the end where the mass air sensor traditionally goes.

I have the K&N system on my car. I swapped in a dry filter, AEM 21-209DK (7.5" base dia, 4.75" top dia, 5.25" long). It fills up the available space pretty well, and just clears my IC sprayer reservoir. Since you have ACD and a 9" long filter, it might clear but will obviously depend on how sharply it tapers so that it can sneak past the ACD res.

Unfortunately this is the best pic i can find of my engine bay.

Same filter. This is the AEM kit. You've definitely got some room before you hit the fender, and considerably more if you are deleting the MAF.

@ Apex Hunter. I appreciate you posting up pics! Yea the ACD filler puts a twist into things... I think I will either end up with a TScomptuned intake which is non CARB or I might roll the dice with the HKS intake to adapt to a speed density with a 9" K&N.

the fp black would surge and flutter when i was on the maf. after speed density all was well with the spool.
