1. Take the harness out the packet and lay it out of the floor. Make sure that all of the fittings are there.

http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns003_thumb.jpg (http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns003.jpg)

2. Underneath the back seat there are two plastic pull tabs. Pull these to release the seat and the bottom cushion.

http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns015_thumb.jpg (http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns015.jpg)

3. Having removed the rear seat bottom you should now be able to see the seatbel bolts, as marked on the picture.

http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns009.jpg (http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns009.jpg) http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns006_thumb.jpg (http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns006.jpg)

4. Undo the 17mm bolt for the seatbelt mount and replace it with the bolt for the back of the harness (see below for bolts). Be careful to ensure that the seatbelt does not get twisted and that the harness is the right way around. Make sure that the bolt is done up nice and tight again.

http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns010_thumb.jpg (http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns010.jpg)

5. Feed the straps of the harness through the back of the seat. Make sure that they are the correct way round and not twisted.

http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns011_thumb.jpg (http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns011.jpg)

6. Push the seat forward for easy access to the stock seatbelt mount. Carefully lift the plastic cover to reveal the bolt (as pictured) and remove the bolt with a 17mm socket.

http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns012_thumb.jpg (http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns012.jpg)

7. Remove the stock bolt and put the eye bolt in its place - remembering to replace the washers in the correct order. Tighten it with a strong bar (the handle of your socket wrench may work) and try to line it up at 90 degrees to the floor. You can now attach the harness clip to the eye bolt.

http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns013_thumb.jpg (http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns013.jpg)

8. The next bolts that you need to get to are for the inside seat mounts. To make this process easier pop out the cetner console.

Open the center console to reveal the two fixing screws. Undo these screws and then gently lift the center console from the rear. It should hinge up out of the way.

http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns014_thumb.jpg (http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns014.jpg)

9. Once the center console has been removed push the seat fully back. You can now see the seabelt stem bolt on the inside of the seat.

Remove this bolt with a 17mm socket and take note of the order of the washers.

http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns016_thumb.jpg (http://socalevo.net/docs/tech/install_guides/sparco_harness/hns016.jpg)

10. Put the washers and seatbelt stem onto the eye bolt and then screw it back into the side of the seat. Tighten it with a strong bar (the handle of your socket wrench may work) and try to line it up at 90 degrees to the floor. You can now attach the harness clip to the eye bolt.

11. Repeat steps 4 thru 10 for the other harness if you have one.

Â*
12. Replace the center console by gently pushing it back down into place and then fixing it with the two screws as shown in step 8. Â*

13. Replace the back seat cushion, remembering to pull the seatbelt fasteners through the holes at the back. Â*

14. Unless you plug something into the driver's seatbelt fastener then you will see the red seatbelt warning light all the time. The easiest fix for this is to put a buckle into the fastner. You can either go to the Mitsubishi dealer and order one, or go to the scrap yard and find one. Most of the older Mistubishi buckles won't work because they are too big. This one is from a 1997 VW Jetta.

Congratulations, you've finished. You should now have something that looks like this! Hop in, andjust the harnesses and go drive!

Actually I found a small error here. You don't have to put anything into the female end of the seatbelt buckle. I thought the same thing when I installed my Takata. I looked underneath the seat with a flashlight and found that there is wiring for the sensor that will simply unplug! Unplug it and you won't have to take apart your seatbelt to get the buckle off!

Thanks Rich, I'll have to get the camera out, take pic and then I will change the instructions.

Tony, this and the other write-ups are AWESOME. I just didn't want anyone to make the same mistake as I did. I actually took apart my driver's seatbelt (not that I'll be using it anytime soon hehe), only to check under the seat not five minutes later to find that it was a bonehead move LOL.

Yeah I know the bolts are under the seat so I dont see how you can put them back in,I want to see pictures too.

Damn! I have pictures of it right here, not for the sparco clubman, but for the takata's I have. I mounted mine to the inside mount almost directly behind the driver's seat. You replace the bolt that holds the female side of the buckle with an eye bolt. The seat will go right back on just as easy as it came off, and there will be absolutely no difference with the eye bolt there. I take my back seat out every time I go to the track and it takes all of 5 seconds to put it back in. Hope this helps, I'll try to post the pic if anyone needs it lemme know.

just a note...i used to have a racing harness on my old alltrac, however...was pulled over once for "not having my seatbelt on." supposedly, the cop saw my seatbelt flapping on the side of my b-pillar and assumed that i didn't have one on...but saw it when he came by my window. he did warn me about having proper paperwork for that setup(non factory seatbelt) however, i just claimed that it is legal as it is of factory standards or higher, and mounts at the minimum factory points. just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble with this...should we be worried about actually getting a fix ticket? really bugged me for a while...

Interesting thought indeed! However what worries me is that a police officer will see my seat and harness, then turn to follow me because he thinks I'm some punk street racer kid. BTW, I've got my factory seat belt pinned between my sparco and the pillar, just so it won't flap around...and I did it pretty much for that reason hehehe.

ricardon, yea i had thought of that previously as well...however the sole reason he pulled me over wasn't just that he saw my seat belt vertically next to the b-pillar, but the fact that the lower end of the strap was nowhere near my shoulder...heh...

That too lol! I got pulled over for the same reason. Cop walked over to the window and said "OH" out loud!!! He said he pulled me over because he thought that I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, then he randomly peeked around the front of the car, noticed that I had no front plate, and the (explitive deleted) actually wrote me for no front plate. Good thing he completely missed the massive borla ex-manifold almost sticking out of the hood vent!

ricardon, man...sorry to hear that... some people just need something to entertain themselves..heh. also one reason why i've decided to put my licence plate on...for the sole reason that its one less thing someone can bug me about..
