I know here in cali, cops are busting out on any cars that have and exhaust. So I decided to go to the nearerst muffler shop to customized my pipings. it's a 3 inch piping replacing the stock downpipe but keeping the flanges and they also bored it to 3 inch. kept the cat as well. If u guys look at our cat, and get a tape measure, the flanges is actually 2.9 inch. I had the muffler shop bored it a little bit so it's 3 inch.and from there the stock catback piping also replaced with the 3 inch piping weld into the stock muffler. For everyone thought the stock muffler is restrictive?? hmm I don't think it's that much. everything costs me 150 bux includes labor.
I think this is a very good investment for me right now. DID I notice any power??...The throttle response are a lott quicker from 2800 rpm to 5800 rpm. it seems like there is more torque. But the top end definitely better than stock. The good thing is that I don't have to worry about cops following my ass because i have an aftermarket exhaust. and to prove that this setup makes power, I raced my friends silver evo at fontana speedway. His car was stock. before I have this mod he used to beat me by a 1/2 a car. but after the 3 inch piping. I beat him by 2 cars. my 1/4 times was 12.9 his was 13.4. I recommend doing this mod to anyone who are on a budget.

That is EXACTLY what I had done at Road Race a couple months ago. Heat wrapped, downpipe, and test pipe using the stock flange (because they didnt have anymore of their flanges) was $300. The downpipe was $200, test pipe $60, and heat wrap $40.

the downpipe doesn't clear one of the tie bar though...that's why it's cheap. This mod is great when u are on a budget
