You don't even know what you want to remove, how are you going to experiment?

There are two resonators in the chain and the muffler which has a flap that opens up when the exhaust flow increases.

man....you scare me.....i'd hate to see what your car looks like if you didnt have this forum..

silceners, oil at 75 degrees celsius, a top end of 200 miles an hour, 18 piston front calipers...

Well im sure that once i have the money i will try to have the best evolution there is, learning more about this car at my age is excellent, most of you guys when you were 17 didnt own a car like this, i had my evo sine 17, ive been into evos since 15 yrs old, hmmm, now i have some parts of the service manual, im learning how to develop better things for this car, I want to scare people, i want people to look at my car and say damn thats a classic, Im not going to waste money part by part, or buy stupid looking aero dynamics, its all about whats under your hood, and then looks, anyways i need someone to tell me about the silencers, whats so hard about that?

In order to modify what's inside the muffler, you will have to split the muffler apart with a blow torch or something, it's not the way to go.

If you want to make the car louder just drill holes in the muffler.

you can have (if you are low in cash ) a muffler shop make you a pipe with out the resonators which will increase your sound . It does involve cutting and welding . IMO save your money and get a cat back exhaust .
also CACalomino had his previous catback with apexi muffler (custom 3' ) on sale , you should PM about it

Yes, the best thing would be to just ditch the stock one all together and get an aftermarket cat back. Just got the RS-R GT2 one for the evo (thank you thank you ROB and Koji)... boy is it pretty... and loud! The whole thing weighs 36lbs... the stock muffler alone FELT like it weighed more than that. Muffler itself has a silencer thats removable with one bolt taken off... never have run it yet with silencer...

Maybe your dad owns a construction company. Have him bring some rebar home. Put a glove on, hold the rebar, insert it in the end of the muffler, take a big rock and start hammering on it. If the rock breaks, find a BFH. If you have him bring home a really long piece of rebar make sure pieces of turbo don't come out when you are done with your new loud muffler system.
