What is the off road evo 8 test pipe?? Why is it illegal, and what good does it do for your car?

thats why its call off road , not to be use in public highways . Its the removal of the stock catalytic converter to a straight pipe . So as you remove that , your car becomes smog illegal on the streets . I have heard if you get cought by CHP the tickets is up too 2500.00 . Which is not worth it IMO . An it does show gains , which some have seen 10whp from it . I prefer a highflow cat then a test pipe.

i run a test pipe, and there is a noticable difference in performance, but after hearing about this, i may put it back, its not worth it.

You can get more than 10whp by removing the cat. Your car does become non-CARB compliant which is a big fine. You will also have to go to a referee (after you put your cat back on) SMOG station.

High flow cats are large wastes of money. Just use your normal cat and then put on your test pipe at the track.

i prefer a highflow cat 3' to go with the entire 3' system ,since it requires purchasing one . Why not a highflow cat ....

Good highflow cats will make almost as much power as the test pipe. I have a Japanese article about stock cat vs. Sard 3" hf cat vs. test pipe.
stock cat puts down 338.5 awhp (car is already modded)
Sard hf cat = 350.5 awhp
Test pipe = 353.5 awhp.
