I have 3100 miles on my car so far, bought it Nov 28th 2003. I'll get the first oil change done at 3500 miles as recommended by the dealer and the manual.

- When did you get your first Oil change? miles?
- and from then on every 3000 or 5000 miles?

I bought mine from Torrance Mitsu, the last time I went there I saw 2 other Evos getting serviced.

- Does anyone have any experience with Torrance Mitsubishi service dept?
- How much does it cost for first oil change and routine inspection?

Did you all know maintenance for all BMWs and Mercs are $0 until the warranty period, yup thats right, zip, zero, nada! That is a sweet deal in my opinion.

Thanks for your feedback! :D

I got mine changed that 1000 miles, I heard it's better to change early the first time because of the break in, the oil is usually very dirty.

I think if you just bring it in for oil change, it's about $50. If you bring your own oil, it'll total around $40. Becareful because some dealer doesn't have Mobil 1.

I do my oil changes myself and I do them every 3500 miles. You can take it almost anywhere for the change, just bring your own oil and filter. If you do that option make sure you watch them to verify they are putting in your Mobil 1. I buy it by the case at Costco for $24

hey say that the engines right now are very good that you dont need to do it every 3000 miles anymore, you "CAN" do it every 5000 miles. i think a safe bet is to do it every 3000, if u race really hard may be 1500, 2000, 2500 depends on how hard u race. One oil change by urself goes about 40-50 bucks, oil filter 4.00-10.00, oil 4-5 qu about 20-25 bucks, and if u dont have the tools u need to buy that too. the deal charges 55 for a oil change i think. you should chnage the oil right now. my was low and black as hell at 3500, now im going to change it every 3000 miles.

i think for farmers theres like 3 or 4 types, 2.99, 4.99, 7.99, and like 9.99 the 7.99 and 9.99 ones are good to go im using the 7.99 one. remember the farmers oil filter is going to be smaller than the stock filter, dont freak out it still will fit on there just the diameter is a little bit smaller than stock.

I drained the oil when I drove it off the lot with 6 miles on it. Left the filter though. Then at 600 miles, I changed filter and oil again. There was quite a bit of metal that you cuold see in the oil and the filter (when you dumped the filter out). All new motors are going to be that way, no matter what the manufacturers say. Its never a bad idea to do the first oil change with very few miles. AT this point, I plan on going with the regular 5000 mile interval.

I just did my 1st at 4100. Later than I wanted to...but then again I've haven't been beating the car too much.

As the guys are recommending... at around 3000 to 3500 would be a good number. I paid $50.00 bucks at HB Mitsu.

Also have them check your tires for rotation if necessary.... it really depends on how you are driving your car if you should or should not rotate. Some will say YOU MUST ROTATE...but some will say it depends...just ask your service guy.

Same thing I did mine. I only use genuine oil filter from dealer. From then, I change oil every 3000. As long as I can do it, I don't let any dealer do any maintenance to my car.

Is there a reason why you guys are "suggesting" Mobil 1 oil? What is the difference between synthetic oils? Is one brand better than the other? Please let me know since I will be changing the oil in my car this week.

theres other brands out there that are better then mobil 1 , like motul and amzoil . On the owners manual it tells you that synthetic is a must . I have ran mobil 1 for 3 years and also motul . but for the amount of money and best bang for the $ Mobil 1 is it .. There are also others like castrol and Valvoline that make synthetic , but im very happy with the results with mobul 1...
