Where should i go get my cam gears installed for a good price and good service, brainstorm wanted 300 dollars, they handed me a paper before i even asked how much and he said just sign it, i looked up and it said 300 dollars, i started laughing, pretty bad first impression if you ask me. I know its a hard job, but 3 bills??? ill go buy something else for my car with that!

Let's keep this from turning into a vendor bashing thread or I'll have to lock it.

I believe SRT Motorsports will give a good price to Socalevo.net members. Give them a call.

SRT charges 200.00 for installing cam and cam gears .
IMO you should do both since it involves removing the cams , you are rather off ...

It's not hard. The only special tool you need is the tensioner tool. You can make do and make your own tool aswell. The tool part number is listed on that Evomoto link. The instruction there for the cam swap can be used for the gears also, just disregard the cam stuff. Once you get the front end up and the tedious stuff out of the way ie; valve cover, wheel, plastic gear cover, etc. that actual gear swap takes about 20-30 minutes. I took my time and had it done in about 3 hours, because I like to look over and clean things while I have things a part. Having done adjustable timing gears I feel $200 is fair to have both cams and gears done by someone competent.

hey guys i got a question...whats the difference between 264 and 272 cams???

i think they have different idling. 264 has mild idle while 272 is rough. 272 should give u more tq and hp though.

is the differnt on open duration , maintaining the valves a lot longer open . thats why you get the lumpy idle , each time they overlap ...
i havent seen the specs on the lift on the hks cams . i think is around 10.5mm . which is not harsh on the stock valvetrain (thats why you are able to retain the stock springs . if you plan to pass or go beyong rev limiter then (with any cams ) i would recommend upgrading your valvetrain to what it can handle high rpms .
but went going with a more radical cams like pipers , jun or tomei then valvetrain is a must since the duration maybe less then the hks 260 i believe but the lift is huge 11.5mm . Huge different then stock and then the hks cams..
