He told me it was a "rally cat" :D

yeah pretty much. the purpose is to give the appearance of a cat.
after being pulled over by a very very serious cop, he went to his trunk and pulled out a stick with a mirror on it.
thank jebus i was running something similar to that at the time on my civic...
so rather than getting a huge smog ticket, I got a noise violation fix it ticket.

the only problem is that it is still going to stink like crazy so any smart pig(I know thats a oxymoron) will be able to figuere out that it is just heat sheilding.

I would not buy that....id get this cat from Apexi
http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com/items/lanevo99_06.jpg
or the cat from Mines
http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com/items/lanevo99_15.jpg
even though the prices are high they are worth the money for the performance and looks

A car with a bad cat also smeels like that, and if the equipment is on the car but non functional, the possible worst he could do is send you too a ref, rather then give the tremendous smog violation. Also, I highly doubt the cop would know the cat dun work by the smell.
Those cats in the last posts don't look like cats nor perform like the test pipe. They may be prettier but they will make less power and be MORE likely to send your ass to a ref. Nothing there I want.

He told me it was a "rally cat" :D
'High Temp Resonator' is the proper description. They were built to satisfy the rules for rallying.

hey for cats i heard you have to go to a muffler shop and get it fit? is that right? or most cats should fit?

Cats are not universal, so yes, you need to make it fit. Ussually they have slip fit ends so you just cut out say 12 inches of pipe for a cat 18 inches long and 3 inches of pipe stick into each side of the cat...
