Ok, car sure looks better without a front plate, but was wondering....how many of you don't have one and how many times have you been stopped for not having one?

I got one "fix-it" ticket and a warning when I was driving my 1g GST without the front plate. So I just left the front plate on the Evo.

I don't have mine on either. No problems on this or my last car. I really think they are looking for people that are doing worse things than having the front plate off.

Fuck the pigs...

More brilliance from the master...

Front plates are required here in VA, too, but I would say only half of the Evos I've seen have them on. Mine is still not on. For those of you who remember the SCLC cruise to Malibu, I am still the "silver-tongued devil".

BTW - my new plates here in VA: EVOQ8TV

i was looking at some Mitsu dealers that still have the evo , and i notice that some of them dont have the mounts for the front License plate .
Not even the hole on the front bumper . Now if you get pulled over and the dealer sold it to you with out the option of putting a front License plate , then what !! lol

No front plate, no hole in the bumper. My mount for it came in the trunk.

The mount for mine came in the trunk too. I have no intention of ever putting it on. I drove my RSX for two years without one with no problems but when I passed that car down to my 17 year-old Son, I mounted the front plate because the Police tend to hassle kids a lot more than adults.

Well, I'm leaving it off! It's funny though...I had a 72 Datsun 510, flared, lowered, no front plate, never stopped, a 73 Spitfire, stopped all the time for no plate, Scirroco, never stopped, 82 RX7, never stopped in 14 years of no front plate! Let's see what happens with the EVO!

Linda this is Dieter founder of SDEVOS.com, if really goes with timing and luck. some cops care others dont. Also it helps to not get pulled over for some thing else, otherwise they will definaly write u up for the plate and any thing else.

Same here. I put the mount in storage. I have never and will never put a front plate on my car. I've gotten one ticket in my life for it, so I'm not too concerned. When I was in traffic school once, the guy sitting next to me had a great pic of his front plate and him behind the steering wheel going through a red light. LOL.

Yeah I got caught running a red light in my supra cause I had my front plate installed.

what about just putting it in the window on the right hand side, or putting it on the dash...Is that still illegal? I know meter maids can give out tickets for no front plate even if you are parked!

GokuSSJ4

the reason a front linsence plate is required , is because of the lights that have cameras . Without a front linsence plates they can not issue a ticket if you run a red light.

Us "old" farts know that front plates have been required in CA long before there were red light cameras!

That's so true. The only two front license plate tickets I received in my lifetime were when my car was parked. First one in Beverly Hills...big on red light camera. Second one in West Los Angeles...also big on red light camera.

yeah right, front plates predates those cameras by probably over a decade...

Correct. The front plate has been strictly enforced recently especially in certain areas due to the Red Light Cameras. Police and Parking enforcement can sight and ticket a parked car without a front plate. Don't ask how I know.

The Los Angeles Police Department is committed to upholding the laws delineated in the Vehicle Code. Tentatively, on July 1, 2000, the Department will be implementing a program known as Automated Photo Enforcement or Photo Red Light. The Photo Red Light program is specifically designed to enforce red light violations. The Photo Red Light program has been implemented in surrounding cities and has proven beneficial in reducing red light violations and traffic collisions.

A red light camera system is connected to the traffic signal and to sensors buried in the pavement at the crosswalk or stop line. The system is activated when a vehicle traveling above the pre-set minimum speed, passes over the sensors after the signal has turned red. A photo is taken of the front of the vehicle in the intersection, including the front license plate and the driver. Citations are sent by mail to the registered owner(s) of the vehicle in the photograph.

When I was in the Marines, I was speeding back to Monterey at the end of the weekend, and I got pulled over by a CHP officer in Santa Barbara. Unlike some of the people here, I was actually cool the guy. He didn't want to write me for speeding, but had to write me for something. No front plate = fix-it ticket instead of speeding...
