here is a layout of what I am doing:

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/gt40/fuel_system_design_1.jpg

basically you have a lift pump which is low pressure, high volume, keep a swirl tank completely full all the time pulling the fuel from the stock tank. The swirl tank is 5 gallon and feeds the fuel pump and then everything is done in trick -AN fittings and a fuel pressure regulator. Basic road race setup.

as an alternative, you could just run dual walbro 255's in the tank with a regulator... Now, that would be noisy.

I can't imagine you need even a single 255HP. What are your plans?

Here is most of the new fuel system.

basically everything but the fuel cell:

what do you think my plans are? most of this stuff will be hidden anyway...

LOL now you will have some serious point deducted , Mark might as well be in the unlimited class . Since you are heading that way
Mark is on a league of his own ..... thats for sure ...
I really like the Manifold thats a must on my list ....

Got the layout for the system pretty well done. Thanks to perversity for stopping by and giving an assist. Nice dyno charts btw...

Hope to have it mounted tomorrow. Basically you got the battery box on the left pump and filter in the middle and fuel cell swirl pot on the right. the lift pump to transfer fuel from the stock tank to the swirl tank it mounted on the side panel in the trunk. the battery, fuel cell are going to be mounted on bars welded to the trunk.

Wow !! very impress by your set up ....GT40

Gentlemen - here you can see the beauty of planning ahead. All of the parts ready to install at the same time. All of the work performed at once, rather than bit by bit....

The interesting thing about this setup is that the weight of the extra fuel and the battery in the trunk (over the rear axel) should also bring the weight distribution closer to 50/50, which will be great. I'd like to see the corner weighting once the stuff is moved and the fuel cell is full.

where did you purchase the battery box ???
To relocate the battery to distribute the weight of the vehicles seems like a good idea . + im able to run Buschur ICP

This is what you can do with the "cha-ching" to afford it, too. I'm not jealous, just glad someone with the money to do this isn't spending it on a new cupholder for his Cayenne....

got home early today and fabricated my brackets, tread plate battery box and pump box and got it all to fit!

another shot with the pump and filter visible:

Still got to make all my fuel lines, put on the AN fittings and mount the lift pump...

I made all the boxes brackets etc. Mig welder

What are you going to use to control the transfer pump? Will it turn off when the stock tank is empty or sloshing and sucking air and you are running on just the auxiliary tank?

Good question, I was going to plan on never running on aux only but maybe tap a solenoid into the fuel gauge warning indicator that will shut it off when it kicks on. Any other suggestions?

Mike W

Not a bad idea (low fuel warning turns the transfer pump off)The light goes on and off some as the level gets low but that should keep the pump from being damaged by running with out fuel too much.

When flogging an EVO in anger you get 5-7 MPG. On a track day the ~12 gallon tank goes empty fast. With all the fuel in the stock tank sloshing back and forth, doing a system like you are planning is a good idea so you dont starve on big right hand corners.

That sounds like a god way to do it short of adding a redundant level switch inside the tank, which would be a pain in the ass. Just watch your guage  . By the way, that is some BEAUTIFUL work. Very professional and definately one of a kind. Congrats and good luck! :werd:

so GT40 can you create one , if i need to relocate my battery to the trunk ????

I can make you a box in about 10 minutes... bring the tread plate!

I finally finished the fabrication of the brackets and boxes for the fuel system. Basically welded to plates to the trunk with studs sticking up with an aluminum bracket holding the pump and fuel cell and battery that can be removed:

Here is another shot:

All I got to do now it run the braided lines and AN fittings... This was more work than I thought it would be...

now , where would you put the battery box if you are runing a strut bar ?? with the V- brace , since yours is place in that area ....
I guess we have to talk hehe , to see where it can be place ...
Nice job by the way , looks great !!!
