DSM's are: Eclipse (Most say 90-99 only), Talon, Laser, Galant (89-93 only). I still miss my DSM...

It is actually a complicated answer...

For the most part if you say "DSM" to someone in the import car world they know you are talking about "DiamondStars" or Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, Plymouth Laser turbo cars.

Technically Diamond Star Motors was the name of the manufacturing plant from 1988-1996, and made a bunch of cars, not just the Eclipse/Talon/Laser. These include the Dodge Avenger, Sebring, all non-turbo Galants, most models of Mirage, Expo/Summit minivan thing, etc. Basically DSM refers to the cars made at the plant that have red and white DSM stickers on the body panels and other parts to signify they are original factory equipment.

Later around 1996 the plant changed names to Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing Corporation (MMMC) which is essentially the same plant, just different name. MMMC makes most of the Mitsus sold in the US with the exception of the Montero, 3000GT and the Lancer EVO which are made in Japan. MMMC also makes cars for Chrysler, like the Avenger and Sebring and probably some other models too.

Outside of the import car world, DSM means Dick Sucking Men :?

Since I run a website called dsmporn.com I get some rather odd emails from the "non import car world people"...

www.dsmvideo.com is more what those people are looking for.

Great post! (Except the porn link I was dumb enough to click without thinking). I'd like to add that the plant is located in Normal, IL.
