It took me f*cken 40 min to freaken change the intake. Dam MAF sensor, I wanted to break the box but I walked away and came back and tried again. Dam mitsubishi!!! they did this on purpose so they know if u rock an intake.

I chewed up mine too trying to get the bolts off. The plastic is not re inforced very well. I ended up wedging a screwdriver and pair of pliars in there in order to get the MAF dico'd.

I don't know if they did it on purpose. Seems more like bad engineering to me. Honda puts blue dye everywhere in order to mark where people have tampered with things....

When I changed out my intake 3 of the 4 bolts from the plastic box to the honey comb came off easy.. .one broke something in the plastic to the point where I Smashed the living hell out of the plastic box just to get it off... Then of course the hose clamp that was on the turbo inlet... dont even get me started on that...

So basically if we got pulled over for an intake how are we going to have it fixed if our box is busted.

I had the same problem when replacing my intake.

You need to heat the nuts (I used a regular lighter, and make sure you keep the flame away from the MAF sensor) for about 10 seconds to loosen the threadlock on the bolts. It pretty easy after that.

For the four conecting bolts that you guys are talking about, the ones that conect the box to the mass air flow sensor, you need to impact them off. This prevents from brakeing the plastic locating knobs on the box. DO NOT IMPACT THEM BACK ON or you will brake all of them, just off. You will need to impact them off everytime for best results.

Not after you have done it a few times. Just be paitent and it all works out great. You'll have no problems

I had no problems with my K&N with the four bolts, just impact them. The worst part i thought was getting some of the intercooler tubes and turbo piping off due to location of the bolt/screw on the clamps. my hands are all ripped up trying to get in the tight area. other than that it sounds great.

I just took mine off last week with my little 1/4" drive socket ;) No troubles at all. I did notice that there was some type of thread locking agent (it's red) on the four MAS nuts/bolts. A little brake parts cleaner takes it right off.

sorry, not familiar with the term "impact them off"

you brake them off by hitting the botls off the MAS?

thanks

This term would be refering to an impact gun. You need an air compresor for this tool. There are some impact guns that are battery pack opperated, but are usualy weak.

so that means i need to buy a small compressor then .... im sure i can benefit at the track as well ... since it makes the job a lot easier ..
any that you can recommend ???
