I have gotten requests on where to get a good cheap camera mount to shoot video in the car so here is a link:

http://store.yahoo.com/cinemasupplies/succupmoun.html

Just get this one if you are using a small camcorder:

With the head in the pic, you can swivel it so that the suction cup can be put on the passenger side of the windshield and the camera will just clear sitting right side up. Bigger cameras should run a second suctioncup and an arm between them with an extension: http://store.yahoo.com/cinemasupplies/hecamostkit.html

The place is in Burbank on Magnolia for anyone in LA:

Filmtools 3100 W Magnolia Blvd., Burbank, CA 91505
STORE HOURS: M-F 8a.m. - 6p.m., Sat 10a.m.-5p.m.
voice: 818.845.8066 fax: 818.845.8138

They are cheap and helpful. You can mix and match parts to make any size mount you want and the suction cups are extremely strong with the bigger ones holding hundreds of pounds. They have been used on airplanes even!

You can mount them on the door, hood roof etc but for track events- in car only.

Yeah, I got my Cleat mount from filmtools as well. Mark and I have two mounts now!! Filmtools has an INSANE amount of mounts and an impossible amount of different configurations. Props to Vanilla Sky for initially telling me about film tools!
