My brakes are gone... mitsu told me i have 35% left on my front and 50% left on my rears. Well i don't really know much on what kind of pads i should get, but i might as well get them upgraded while im at it. Mitsubishi stock pads are around $400 (for all 4). So im assuming they got cheaper ones out there that perform somewhat better than stock.

And if anyone knows a good place to get my brake pads replaced near Orange County... that would be great. THANKS!

Check with 500WHP - He had Endless SS-S pads - HIGHLY recommended. I've been running them since May.

dont get those stock pads because they're horrible trust me ,and make sure because when they say stock at a dealer they mean stock specs. not Brembo i purchased those for 170 and am waiting for my project mu's IMO you cannot run canyons or even hard with the Mits. pads, you live and you learn right

Anyone know if you can machine the OEM rotors?

I know that sounds like a dumb question, but BMW states the rotors always need to be replaced for some reason.

That reason I suspect is to line their pockets a bit more....

That reason I suspect is to line their pockets a bit more.... You can machine OEM rotors as long as it does not exceed the minimum thickness required on each rotor, i believe the min. thickness specs is stamped on the rotors then do a pads replacement too.

I thought I read on another thread that you should not turn the rotors at the first pad change? If someone has info on this I would appreciate a heads up as I need new pads also.

Absinthe found some ferodo DS2500 for cheap. check out this link: http://www.socalevo.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2629&highlight=brake+pads

I am thinking about getting the DS2500's cheap and good

Yeah I'd go with the ferodo's esp after both my experience with them and what seems to be the consensus out of sport compact.

On the street: the stop better, dont squeak, and last longer than the stockers.

I second that emotion. Running Endless SS-S and they are The Shit.

Is that for all 4 pads? Cuz if it is - that is a really good price on the Ferodos.

yes it is all 4 pads shipped to your door, I hate to sound like a vendor pimp but the guy at Raceshopper.com is awsome talked me through all of the pads for about 30 minutes and then set me up with the DS2500's.

If you buy though tell him I sent you and I'll get $10 off my next order, thats also a deal he offers to anyone who refers a new client. So my next set will be $230.

That is a good deal. I wanted to try the Ferodos next, so now I know where to get them. Good call!

Dude, you're going to have to register as a vendor if you are going to try to sell stuff on here. I just wanted to let you know before Rob or Dino beat you down or delete your posts.

Just kidding. ;)

The problem I found with PF is you cant' get em. If you can, I couldn't find em, so I gave up on them. My e-mail to them bounced.

I'm going to run Pagid RS14s. The RS14s aren't as aggrssive as the Ferodo DS3000(read: longer rotor life), though they are race only pads as well. The upper temp range for the Pagid and Ferodo pads are 650 and 750, respectively.

Here's the description from Pagid's site:
RS 14 Black
This is a medium high friction value ceramic type compound with very good modulation, high fade resistance, low heat conductivity, and a good wear rate up to a temperature of 650°C (1.200°F). It is kind on discs, with visible grooving, but a limitation of hairline cracks. Applications: NASCAR, CART, F3, Touring cars, GT cars, WSC, Trans Am and Rally.

I will have them thoroughly tested at Buttonwillow. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Too late for that now. With no repsonse to my e-mail, I figured they didn't want the business.

A side note about my judder and "crunchy" noise from my brakes - I talked to Frank @ RMR (former WRC tech) about them and he said the noise and judder is from the two-piece rotors. The pins expanding between the hats and rotors make the noise. WHEW! He said it was perfectly normal. When I slammed the brakes with my hands off the wheel, it stopped dead straight. Nice one, Frank!

Pssst.... Endless SS-S (Unless you are super hardcore, then CC-R).

what gives off less brake dust? ferrodos or endless?

Absinthe

If break dust is your only concern get some pads designed to dust less I think the project mu NS pads might work but I could be Totally wrong check iwth Drmosh he had them

Dave is correct, Project MU's dust much less than stock pads, almost 1/2 as much, but remember, dusting less means yer using a harder compound pad which is harder on your rotors.
