Just a quick question...I want to replace the upper intercooler pipe but heard that you need to replace the battery with a smaller one in order to clear it? If thats true, which one will clear the battery and if doesn't need to be changed and you can install whatever one you want, what would be the best for your money?

you have two choices
1. which is a cheaper one is the get the greddy upper intercooler pipe kit for myevostore.com it's a good site to check out.
2. which cost more money but, you get an intake system with it. is the injen 1898P intake system with upper intercooler pipe. rob can also get it for you at a good price. i just installed it on my car and it's pretty clean looking. can i still have the stock battery

if choose to get the greddy one, will it clear the battery? I've checked out myevostore.com and yeah, the injen intake and pipe and super clean. But I already have a Typhoon K&N, so most likely I will go with the greddy. But I just want to make sure I don't have any clearance problems before I purchase it.

the greddy fits with stock battery (at least thats what the pic shows)
im gonna go with the greddy and the mr dv myself.
i know the hks also fits with the stock battery but you may not want to go with the SSQV.

i just talked to ROB last night from myevostore.com and there is a problem with fitment of the greddy hard pie kit. Greddy is pully the product for a full redesign.

sounds like i am better off getting the injen intake and pipe kit...or just wait for the greddy to be redesigned. did he say when it was going to come out?

buschur has a upper intercooler pipe coming out in the next month or two that will fit like the greddy and hks pipe.

you can also look at perrin. the have a silicon pipe that will clear the stock battery for around $250 i think

and RNR has one for like $300 ( RnR Racing.com)

dynamic design makes one too.
www.teamdmotorsports.com

there are also 2 or 3 full intercooler pipe sets that clear ranging from like $350-900 (ur, rvm, rmr, and ralliart)

YES the HKS Evo7 R-Core you have to cut! The greddy one i think for the evo 7 u might have to do some mod! Key words: I THINK.

Anyone running the Perrin kit?
http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/Boosttubes/evo01.jpg

I spoke with Jeff @ Perrin this morning. He stated that while the OD is noticable larger, the ID is only slightly larger then stock. It's made of silicon as you can see and this is supposed to be more resistant to heat soak while the engine is idling at a stop light.

The price is about 170 just for the one hose. It's very thick so I doubt it will flex. Still...it kind of looks like a fireman's hose in the engine bay.

Thoughts?

i was always afraid that the perrin would flex. (its seems rather soft to the touch)
$170 is a nice price... i can only recall seeing it for like $250

it comes in black and blue though also, so you dont have to have the fireman look.

i think im gonna wait to see what the full gruppe-s kit looks like

I've had Smaco hoses on my Z for a while and liked them quite a bit. But they're a lot shorter then the Perrin boost tube.

yeah, that samco kit at least gets rid of all the crap flex the car comes with.

i just dont know about the price tag since there are a lot of full kits in that range now

Very true.

I'd imagine that the OEM rubber with mesh braids probabably hold up just as good as the silicon ones. You won't see a benefit until you went metal.

Then with the metal you'd do well to wrap the IC to TB line.

yeah, its hard to say which is worse to deal with
flex from the perrin (pipe) or samco (joints)
or heat soak when going all metal.

obviously both are probably better than stock.

pop the hood, flip the throttle and just watch the flex tube into the throttle body just cave in on itself.
