I was considering buying Volk wheels for my Evolution. But i had a few Questions about the Wheels and Tire sizes. I've seen people put on 9" wide wheels and seen at a car show a 265/35/R19 wide tire on an Evo. I wanted to put on the 19" wheels on my Evo with the widest wheels and tire combination possible with out have to do any modification. I was hoping to go with a 19"x9" wheel with a 265/35/r19 tire. I was hope someone could tell me if this is possible (and if so what offset will i have to get on the wheel), or what's the biggest i can go.

You might have to rolled or shaved the fenders to fit those tires. 19x9" with right offset should fit, but probably not with 265 tires.

This car runs 19x8.5" Volk GT-7's with 235 tires and there's not much room left.

I changed my wheels to size 18 axis wheels/tire package, and have experienced less pull and noticed my turbo timer also rack on more time compared to those stock 17" Enkeis. The bigger and heavier the wheels/tires combo the harder it is for the engine. If I'd do it again, I'll change my wheels, but stay the same size. Just don't expect your EVO to pull as hard when it's tryin to turn those huge 19's. Your decision.

how does having bigger wheels make ur car performace go slower? is it because the engine is working harder cuz da wheels are heavier?

Bigger diameter - more time it takes to fully rotate... Rotational weight also ...

Not if your 18s are lighter than stock 17s...

my 17x9 weigh 14.6 pounds... 18 is always heavier for a given wheel.

Go with 18 if you want for looks or a forged light 18 for slight improvement over stock but 17 works best for performance as it is lighter wheel for wheel if you choose the same model.

It boils down to less unsprung weight = better handling. A heavy 17 is not as good as a really light 18.

Only other issue is tire availability. If you want to run slicks for the track, you can pick up "used" slicks really cheap so that can outweigh the advantage.

Lightweight tires and 2-piece rotors help, too. Now if I could only put them to use.... :x
