Woah woah woah.. now that would be the logical thing to do. We can't have that.

Where are you located?
Where did you get it from?
Is it suppost to be a direct bolt on?
What's in the kit?

Did you guys not learn from Mark's (gt40) experience? That turbo is pretty f'ing big. Are you planning to make an all out drag car?

I think you need to be more specific with your request. If you are completely lost, DO NOT ATTEMPT!

STEP AWAY FROM THE TURBO.

The turbo bolts on where the intake manifold starts. Then run the lines to any open nipples.

Damn dood you should be pushing at least 400 and those injectors are to small for serious power, at least for pump gas.

Damn, that's a seriously conservative tune.
I think you need to get that re-checked.
Try RRE, XS or Tuning Technologies.

A few hundred dollars and you'll jump another 100WHP at least.

Good luck!

please tell me that those #'s are with out tuning, i should be near that on 91 with the stock turbo

Nope, supposedly that's tuning included.

He's using an AFC to tune a 35R.... Well how much power does that turbo make at 19psi? because since he has no control of his timing, he can't run more than stock boost.

trinydex
01-16-2005, 06:51 AM
for one it should make lots more power at 19 psi and what does timing have to do with running 19 psi? if anything running more boost lessens the amount of timing advance you can have and if you're referring to timing retardation then i don't see why the comment about running stock boost comes in.

if he is running stock injectors he should still have an hp increase but maybe that's the hp increase... i mean it is like... 100hp over stock on stock injectors...???

yeah we'd really need more details about his other supporting mods before we wonder why his number is so low. if you're running stock pump and stock injectors that almost eliminates the purpose of running safc and it definitely is asking for trouble with a larger turbo.

and also i'm not sure how stock boost solenoid would work for an externally gated trubo, plus all the tapering pills and this and that... do you have a boost controller?

man... how people mod cars these days?!?!?!?

Which dyno that you used? I assumed you already have turbo-back exhaust so you'll need cams and MBC to hold boost. Also, you'll need a basic reflash to increase the rev limited to around 8000 RPMs since the power band is too short with the lag.
With VERY CONSERVATIVE 11:1 tuning with the SAFC, you should pushing around 360 (20 psi boost) to the wheel with 91 and 460 (25 psi boost) with 110 oct.
The hardest thing is learn to drive with (big time) turbo lag. Enjoy.

Hes not using stock injectors. He mentions that hes using 750's.

Even if he were using stock pump and injectors, he's gonna need more fuel for the increased amount of air that turbo will provide. So why does that eliminate the need for running an AFC? Is he supposed to just put the turbo on and hope the ECU will compensate???

And the whole thing about timing control - the car is mapped to somewhere around 19-23 psi. If you can't control the timing you can't run more than stock boost - because you can't retard the timing. Even if you run stock boost with that big turbo it can still predetonate if the fueling isn't right.

trinydex

i guess i meant it's pointless to have safc with stock pump and injectors because you'll max them out real fast and you won't get any timing advance benefits from piggy backing on the ecu... in fact you might just get timing retard. and our cars are retarding timing all the time from running bad gas so the car would compensate, but you can't run much more than 19-23 psi on 91 anyway. so taht means if you want to run race gas you can deal with not retarding the timeing and maybe even lean towards timing advance because that's what race gas is for. but i wouldn't recommend building a car like this anyway.

and i reread the post before i posted last... couldn't find his mod list... must have forgot the part where he said 750 injectos...

Tuning a gt35r with an AFC is just plain lame. That turbo is too big and the fuel system and suppoting mods IT SHOULD HAVE are beyond that.

Well! I got 360 WHP with 91 oct. and 450 WHP with 110 oct. dynoed and tuned by Dan at Harman Motive with just the SAFC-II on top of my dynoflash for the stock turbo.

However, didn't do too great at the drag (only 12.7 / 111) due to problem with 4th gear completely locked out at high RPMs (above 6000) so I lost all boost when double-clutch.

Will do much better after I resolve that problem which bothering me since the stock turbo.

450 on a stock turbo? Or am I not reading this right? If so then you must have the record. I think that would be more than buschur did with a stock turbo and ems. Hmmmmmmmm
