by the way I did this all by hand no power tools required I was going ot use my dremel to polish but I didnt wanna go through the hassle of finding all my polishing bits so I just used a towel and TR3 polsihing compound ahaha

for those of you who are confused this is what i used

you are an expert polisher, it must have taken years of practice to get to be that good.

what can I say... I workout...

:D haha this was done with nothing more than TR3 polishing compound. Im sure if I took my time and slowly went to finer grit paper and took it to a buffing wheel I could make it look like chrome but this was done in 45 minutes...

im glad everyone likes it, ill do it for anyone gratuity is always welcome I can also debadge if anyone is interested :D

If you want a mirror polish you need to cut the grain out with a cutting wheel and then use a buffing pad, This is only if you have a buffing stand. Sanding will help but it better be very fine paper 1000+ grit. Wet paper will be easier on the finish. it can be made to look like a chrome pipe if you have the patience and/or the right equipment

agreed but that takes patience and i didnt have any fine grit paper I will prolly pick some up this weekend and finish it but for 45 minutes you cant beat these results by hand

Dont get me wrong it looks great. Just letting people know other options. For anyone considering doing a large amount of buffing getting a 3/4 hp wheel and pads will cut done times tremendously.

Don't get me wrong your job looks very nice, the TR3 worked wonders w/o any sanding. But I still think I want to sand mine, I'm sure I can get it a lot more shiney by sanding it even though it will require a lot more work.

I've sanded the pipes on my MR2 before, and it does not come out uneven at all when done correctly. I start off with 600 grit dry, then move to 1000 dry followed by 1000 wet. 1500 dry then wet and finish it off with 2000 dry then wet. Then aluminum polish after that, it really comes out great. Its just a PITA to do and is a lot of work.

yea I have polished things the same way except instead or using 600 grit to start I used steal wool seems to do a better jub softening the larger scuffs and scratches from the start just a thought you should try it out

Yeah, I usually use steel wool before starting with 600

Ya pretty easy thing to do. I let the TR-3 cure on the pipe for 2 hours to let the resins harden per the instructions on the TR-3 bottle. After words, i finished it off with Brasso polish.

Boosted

yea I used brasso too, its great stuff. I use that to polsich my exhaust pipe when I wash my car as well. Just let it dry to a haze and buff it off with a soft towel looks like new.

On the back of the Brasso polish, it says not to use on aluminum. Isn't the pipe aluminum?
