Passed break in period finally and its time to get an exhaust. I am still undecided as to stainless or titanium and these are what I keep comming back to. Which would you pick and why?

Stainless steel exhaust:
HKS 30th Aniv. or Jic stainless

Titanium:
Jic Ti or Greddy Ti

I just put on the Espelier Stainless Steel Exhaust System from Road Race for $490. Sounds great, looks great, runs great. I also added a high flow cat and AEM short ram intake.

i heard the Greddy construction is a piece of shiet on the Ti. I forget where i heard that though.

You gotta think do u really need to shave the weight on the exhaust. Check out Bulletproof for a Kakimoto titanium or Fujitsubo.

Why in the world would you comment about something you "heard" when you can't remember the source? Maybe you were thinking of this thread from this very forum where Mike W@ RRE corrects comments that the flanges leak?

I agree with you that most people should consider that the weight loss is a trade off for a big increase in cost and a significant increase in loudness.

Come on guys, try to do some research and not continue to spread misinformation for your fellow Evo owners. Found this in about two seconds (look at the bottom for sound testing and silencer information):

How about Amuse R-1.
$1,600 for just a catback.

Sorry i didnt have an exact reference at the moment but once again checked my info last night at the Starbucks meet talkin to Rob about the Greddy and yes the flanges are paper thin but he said he hasnt seen a problem come from it yet. And it wasnt misinformation the flanges are thin but dont pose too much of a threat unless you are removing and installing the catback numerous times.

this is exactly what i was referring to, but i was unsure if this was the same exhaust system(hadnt seen it for 6 months), so i put the uncertainty factor in there, as i have found that acting like you know something that is incorrect leads to massive complaining and whining, and general dislike from other members

Thanks for the info on the Greddy, kind unsure of that system after seeing the flanges (no joke when thin flanges was mentioned). Anyone have any problems with either HKS or JIC? Pictures or any additional information on these systems would be great.

Thanks again

Would love the Amuse system or even a JSpeed down pipe!

HKS racing titanium i havent heard much about personally. The Carbon Ti in my opinion is just prettier than the Hipower.

JIC i havent heard bad things about just that its heavier than the Greddy. So if weight savings is the goal in mind i wouldnt go with it.

Well, you didn't say that the flanges were paper thin, you said that you heard that the "construction is a piece of shit," so that's what I didn't agree with. Glad you followed up and posted. What I think is counter-productive is to post at all if you're not sure or you don't have an exact reference. Sometimes lots of comments like that snowball and then someone else gets a wrong impression about any number of things.

Same as above, I just think trying to find information first to help the guy before posting is a lot better. You guys were probably just talking, but the originator of the thread and others are looking for good information about the exhausts.

To that end, I think Ti exhausts are nice if you don't mind the fact that they are significantly louder and hit your pocketbook harder. The weight loss at such a low point on the car is not really significant for handling. For someone looking for performance and quietness, I'd get a SS mandrel bend custom exhaust from RRE with a couple resonators and a magnaflow muffler. As an example, skip to the end of this quicktime video and notice how quiet tama_mog's Evo is. He's got the full on GT35R big everything setup with an RRE built 3" turbo-back exhaust with straight pipe (would be even quieter with the high flow cat).

Titanium is nice and "the new carbon fiber," but steel is quieter.
