For those of you who are not sure how to add pictures to your posts, here are some instructions. this has been modified by trinydex because the original became useless after files were lost.

1) Add the pics in your gallery.

this is done by first clicking the gallery button.

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_gallery%20highlighted%7E0.JPG

then click the upload button

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_upload%20highlighted.JPG

this brings up the upload screen

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_upload%20screen.JPG

from here you can upload via links on the internet (three at at a time) or directly off your computer (five at a time)

once you select a file to upload you can click continue

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_upload%20statistics.JPG

this is the uploads statistics screen. here you can label the picture and put in keywords for people hoping to search and find the picture in your gallery.

now you're done

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_upload%20done.JPG

take note of the two path ways to find the picture, last uploads or my gallery

if you choose the recent pictures options you'll arrive here

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_recent%20picture.JPG

2) Open pic in the gallery.

3) Right click on the image and select Properties

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_right%20click%20properties.JPG

take note that an alternative is to just "right click r" this is the shortcut button for properties in the drop down menu.

There is a line called address that will look like this:

Address: http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/album67/example.jpg

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_highlight%20url.JPG

highlighting the address is made easier by pressing "ctrl clicking" any line of the address, this automatically highlights the entire address without any extra returns or text.

5) Copy the address.

"ctrl c" is the shortcut most used. after copying the address the properties box can be terminated with esc button on keyboard.

6) Go to the post that you want to insert the picture into.

it is important to understand now that the forum uses a "markup code" this is the [quote`] and other type stuff you always see in the text field when you go back and edit stuff.

7) Paste the address into the post.

8) Highlight the address and click on the [b]Img button at the top of the screen.

take note that hightlighting the address using "ctrl click" because if you triple click or just mouse move highlight you will catch the returns at the end of the line and when you append the img mark up it will delete the return. this is annoying when you're adding lots of pics.

9) Preview the post to make sure you included the picture you wanted and not something else.

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_append%20forum%20markup%20img.JPG

at this time it is good to know that there is another way to upload pictures.

you might have noticed the "additional options..." at the botton of the text field

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_additional%20options.JPG

click additional options and this is what you get

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_expanded%20additional%20options.JPG

browse and add file

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_browse%20addition.JPG

once you select a file you can "save" your modified post or "post" the post you wish to post if you're adding the picture into the post for the first time.

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_save%20additional%20options.JPG

take note that the function to add pictures like this may be finicky, it may not wish to modify your post AND add a picture at the same time.

now if you modify or post you'll see this

http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_file%20highlighted.JPG

the image is distorted in the normal socal way, there's no thumbnail function so the whole thing is just there like a sore thumb. it might not be so nice to upload pics like this.

this is what happens when you don't load an image file. pdfs and log files are much nicer uploaded in this way.

why is it resizing some of our pictures?

Because people post pictures that are way too large to view normally so I have set it to re-size to a more normal size (640px width with no contraint on height). Plus it makes it so you dont have to go use photoshop or something to resize before posting the pic. It does it all for you. The original image size is preserved though because I didnt have it rescale the photo, it merely uses HTML resizing. You can directly onen the URL of that image and it will be in full size.

ok i get the reason you did it. but i think the proportions are a little off. im not sure if its height or width ....but one is off just a little bit. heres a couple examples...

notice the lines. ie trunk, hood, curves. its nothing major really, just was curious and wanted to point it out.

*edit*
well i just put 2 different pics in photoshop and set it to 600 width. and got height of 450 on the first one and 400 on the second one. so whatever. like i said ...i was just curious about it.

It only contrains the width and sizes the height proportionally to that. Depending on the browser you're using, it will have better anto-aliasing than what i'm using - firefox. Even if the image looks a little weird, clicking on the filename below will open the full version,

i don't think i have too much time, i'm super busy this quarter. i think it's that i care too much. always afraid people don't understand stuff and they need a resource to turn to. i guess that's why i want people to contribute so much so it's not all on me. i know we all got a lil somthin' we can share to help everyone around on the forum. adding pics is a big part of that process. making everything easy to understand so everyone else can help each other make everything easy to understand.

this is just the beginning... once people start contributing on a regular socalevo really will be the best and only place anyone will ever have to go for evo information.

well the show and shine database is going... but there's only like 2 people that have posted stuff.... it's mostly been me and my other screen name.

the wheel fitment guide is moving too... but still not everyone is pickin' up the slack.
