Well I wanted to know how the IC would look painted... I love it. Getting rid of the bling one piece at a time.

nice, that looks great. i wanna do it to my car but did you use just regular spray paint? or thream coating? anodizing?I used Dupli-Color Engine Enamal with Ceramic (Low Gloss Black Pt# DE1634), sprayed straight thru the grill only masking the painted sufaces around the grill. Whole job took 15 minutes to do. This is by far the cheapest, fastest, easiest mod I have done so far. I already had this in my garage, and the fact that it has ceramic in it leads me to believe that the surface will be tough. The paint is rated to 500 degrees, but I don't think heat will be a factor. Like I said, this was left over and calling out to be used.

I'm back and forth about bling.

"Bling" to me often equates to what most people consider to be rice.

I made certain to polish my GReddy FMIC before I installed it. But the reason it's there is for functionality, not bling. The gauges in the car sit comfortably in a Craig Hardy pod. "Bling-bling", I suppose, but it keeps me from drilling inot my pillar and it's so seemless that most people think it's OEM. "Purpose accompanied by bling."

All in all, I like/respect the stealth look, but personally, I'd prefer people to know there's an EVO coming up behind them or sitting next to them at a light (and not think it's a mock up).

I always thought that a big nasty looking IC in front of a car looks nice, I just don't want to attract attention from Mr. Popo. Ever since I bought this car, cops notice the IC standing out like a sore thumb and start giving me the old hairy eyeball when I'm stopped at a light. Kids would rubber neck as I drove by. I have noticed that I'm getting less attention from the kiddies, I just hope this trend carries on to our men in blue. My next step is to get a Ralliart wing for the rear.

I also need to run gauges, however I opted for the stealth approach here too. Please excuse the missing oil pressure gauge that will live in the center hole. It is on back order from E-Gauges.

"Objects in the mirror are loosing" I'd prefer the same thing about people knowing its an EVO coming up right behind them. The stealth look is great! A very sleeper look. They'll never know what blows past 'em.

When I did mine I used a very light coat of laquer so it would let the heat transfer, yes I need to paint it every once in a while, but i didn't want to seal it.

Just a real light coat for now, but I'm sure more coats will go on as the kamikaze butterflies add up.

Looks nice. Yeah, ceramic sounds bad on an IC, though.

I'm sure that since this came out of a spray can, the ceramic content is very small and should cause no concern.

Almost! Except you still have the louvers in the hood and your Mitsu diamonds are still chrome. I think I'll put the louvers back in, more stealthy looking.

My next step is to get a Ralliart wing for the rear.

I just put one on myself. I got it from:
http://www.stewartdesign.biz/product_info.php/cPath/107_125/products_id/850

Its a great kit...comes with ALL hardware for mounting & mounting the light (which is included). It comes primered...I found NO dings or imperfections in it at all. The shop i gave it to for painting said it looked great as well, but used there own primer just in case. I highly recommend this spoiler!

I found brand new '05 Ralliart spoilers (no center post) painted for around $175 shipped:

try that for you newer coats.

has all the info you need, basically been proven that it don't matter what paint you use. but just to be on the safe side.
