go with powdercoating. There is a shop in escondido that will do it for around 50 bucks a wheel. Great durability and looks even better. Colors will be limited.

if you powdercoat just make sure that its cured at a temp. lower than what the wheels were cast at,if its higher it will mess up the stuctural integrity of the wheels and be prone to cracking

DIY... if you have a friend with access to a chamber... do as many wheels as you can... lol... that's what i did

so would i need to borrow a painting chamber? or rent one? i mean, I'm guessing this isn't just a DIY in the backyard kinda thing... and does the DIY paint need to be "baked" or "cured" or whatever???

I had some parts powdercoated with Olympic and was very impressed with their product and professionalism. These are good people that stand behind their product. They have alot of experience powdercoating aluminum wheels so do not fret about them melting the wheels.

I just got done talking to Mark at Olympic Powdercoating. He has said he will give a 5% discount to any SoCalEvo members when they want their wheels powdercoated. Make sure your reference SoCalEvo.
Prices are as follows.

Semi Gloss 1 Stage Powdercoating. Aluminum wheel up to 18"
60.00 per wheel (does not include the 5% off)
They strip the wheels (cost already included)

Full Gloss 2 Stage (for colors) Aluminum wheel up to 18"
75.00 Per wheel (does not include the 5% off)
They will strip the wheels (cost already included)

Steel wheels are about 15-20 dollars less to get powdercoated per wheel.

BTW, bring the wheels without the tires on them. I dont think they have the equipment to remove the tires.

i painted my wheels myself, sanded, primered, gloss black, then clear coated, only costed about thirty bucks and held up great, looks awesome!
took about 7-8 hours tho!
