I'm planning on changing my front/rear bumpers in the near future (nothing fancy most likely evo 9 fascia once the part numbers are available).. I have zero experience with body shops. Is this going to be something I can take somewhere with a mitsu paint code, get it painted, then bring it home and install myself, or will I need to have the car somewhere to have them match/feather the hood/fenders?

depends on the condition of the car's paint.
Usually you can get really really close with the factory paint code. Companies like Dupont have the mixes down to a science. but they do not take into account for oxidation / contaminents.
I usually remove the gas cap door and bring it in to the paint shop to ensure the paint matches perfectly.
Some autobody shops have the laser paint reader, but good luck getting them to help you out.
Most autobody shops have their paint guys tint the paint to match but this is usually only needed for older cars.

good luck
