Had the ems installed at RRE and had scot gray tune it on the street last night. What a difference! the car is still not dyno tuned and already it feels so damn smooth! before with the p2 flash and safc2 I would have stalling problems, rough idle, it would stumble ofboost sometimes. Now it drives better then stock, pulls like a freight train too. Going to Tuning Technologies tonight at 9pm for the dyno tuning. I am very curious how the powerband is going to look now.

Just curious, how much did they charge for a Ems tune? How long did the install and tune take? Are you running map sensor conversion? Keeps us updated.

Thanks

$60 to install EMS
$60 to install AEM 3.5 Bar sensor
$90 to install AIT sensor
$399 for Zeitronix wideband

They didnt tune it, I had scot gray do it.

$400 to scot to tune it. + 2 hour dyno time today ($125 per hour)

It took them wednesday and thursday, but I had them do more work. Typical EMS install is same day service.

no clue yet, going to a dyno tonight, we just did basic driveability tuning last night so I could drive the car home.

The reason your car stalled is because the p2 + safc= crap, the p2 dosent like the safc.

I am well aware of that. I had to put in +5% fuel at idle to keep the car running period with 720 injectors!, there is definetly something funky in the idle code of the p2 flash.

Who's doing the tuning this evening?
Scott Gray or TT?

Please post your dyno sheet when you're done. :)

ya I agree my stft is around 16% at 0, another friend running 720 injectors safc and stock ecu has no issues at all.

Not too Bad. Cheaper than some other place I know in L.A..Probably going to have a tuning session with RRE

It could have made more peak power with the 97ish octane mix but the boost was falling off a lot on the top end, so I didn't see much point in having it spike to 26PSI to make 400whp for only 1 millisecond. Sure the peak numbers would have been more impressive on the dyno plot but the usable powerband wasn't improving.

The 91 octane tune is at 21PSI of boost tapering to 19ish at the top end. The turbo is pretty much maxed out beyond that and is going outside of its efficiency range which really kills the 91 octane potential.

The 272s really make it pull nicely on the top end considering it is the stock turbo. I don't usually recommend the AEM EMS for this type of power level, but Kaane seems pretty smart about learning the EMS for himself, and he plans to do more upgrades in the future, so he has a good foundation to build on.

How many volts of knock were you getting?

Blak94GSX
03-19-2005, 03:51 PM
I was trying to keep it under 2 volts. Basically it is tuned for no knock.

Just an FYI on the screenshot of the log, the O2 reads lean when the boost first comes on because the O2 sensor is back a bit from the motor, so it takes a moment for the O2 sensor to show the true AFR. The target AFR is in the mid 11s for pump gas. You can see the AFR is flat at 11.4 after it settles down.

So umm, I'm not going to name names, but I received some datalogs today from a recently tuned EMS car that I thought were interesting:

I had to test it out :), man it gets up there quick. It was still pulling like a freight train when I let off. (ran out of freeway)
