I got stock '03 wheels with Toyo RA-1's on them. Size is 255-40-17. Will they fit a stock car without rubbing? No fender rolling necessary??? I don't want any surprises when I mount them the day before a track day.

I've got 255-40's on my stock wheels, no problem. Unless your car is lowered.

I'm in the same situation...

i have RA-1 255's on stock wheels..with muellers suspension and lowering..i have yet to try them out (new tires meant for the track)..

after mounting them, i jacked up the front left side of the car to have the rear right wheel take most of the load..

the tire came really close to the fender but didn't rub..

my question is if this is a good way of testing if the tire rubs the fender?..i figured it was an extreme scenario of just one wheel taking on the whole load..and if anything, on the track there'd be less load since it'd be distributed between another wheel (unless i somehow really get 2 to 3 wheels off the ground  )..

of course i will drive around to test it out well before the track day :) , but im curious how well this 'test' is..

because if this test does work well, then there's a good chance RA-1 255's on stock wheels don't rub even with a significantly lowered evo :)

I have that exact same setup on my lowered 03 Evo. They fit fine. No worries. The only thing that it not ideal is that RA1 are a little "squishy" (sidewall play/understeer) to begin with (don't have the same rock hard sidewalls as our Advans). When you put a 255 on our stock wheel, you get even more sidewall play. Fortunately, once the the RA1s are asked to really grip, the "squishiness" ends and they grip like a mofo.

Enjoy! If you want to sell them, I'll give you 400bucks for them
