So I got everything apart last night and as i was taking out the last injector i dropped the little rubber gromet/washer thing from the front of the injector into the engine bay...it then entered the 9th dimension never to be seen or heard from again. I was looking at the fitment of the new injectors and i'm not sure if the Denso 720cc ones need this front gromet. Can anyone confirm or debunk this? I would like to know so i can put my car back together and whatnot :)

Yes you need it. Road Race Engineering in Santa Fe Springs stocks them, or I have a few laying around at my house in Agoura.

That not only holds the injector in, but prevents a major boost leak.

FYI, RRE is closing shop @ 4PM today to get ready for Rim of the World race and they're not answering their phones today either.

I'll be at RRE today. I can pick up one for you, but dunno if i can drive it back to MDR since i'll be hanging out waiting for Scott.

You can skip steps 1-2-3 on the list if you want. Remove the old injectors from the rail before trying to remove the cables that clip onto them. Then clip the connectors onto the new injectors before inserting the injectors into the fuel rail. This makes things easier.

Is the piece you're missing called an "O-Ring" in RRE lingo? If so, brian i can pick u up one and i can bring it back to MDR since i'm just picking up my car and going straight home. Let me know ASAP since i'm leaving soon to RRE.

Tell RRE it is the rubber piece that goes on the intake manifold side of the injector.

in a little lesson that anything that can go wrong will...know that the little orange o rings that go on the BACK of the injector can crack or break faily easily...this will cause a leak and you will be sad...like me :(

just fyi....

This is not a auto fag convention Brian so there is no interpretation allowed. And by the way you are not allowed to touch tools, youre as bad as Tom.

I have exstra o-rings and gromits you could have if you can find a way to pic them up. I just went through a similar thing, only I didn't notice the leak for a couple months. I just thought I was supost to get 8 mpg.

yup..same thing happened to me, the orange o rings go from fuelrail-to injector..and the thicker black rings go from injector-to intake mani.
When installing the fuel rail back on, i accidentally pinched one of the orings and when i turned on the car..all i saw was FLODDING gas. make sure you get all the injectors seated up tight onto the rail before you tighten the bolt on each side that holds the rail in :?
