ok ive had my baby for 3 weeks now. and have i put miles on it. whoa. it hit me today. i had originally planned on not putting THAT many miles on it. i mean i figured id obviously drive it ALOT. but not this much. its at 2200.

i think part of it is the fact that its finally nice outside here and i HATE winter so id rather be out doing something rather than stuck inside.

anyone else put something near that or more? or should i put the keys down for awhile?

Everything its free for you, when are you going to experience what your car is capable  Anyone can drive the car on the streets but the car begs to be driven on its environment

hahaha i realize 30k is alot more. im just saying that 2200 in the first 3 weeks of owning it seems like ALOT. of course, my old car i never drove this much. but then again, i never had this much fun driving.

as for breaking it in, i didnt go about 5k until after 1000 and i tried as hard as possible not to beat on the clutch. ive smelt it twice but not horribly bad, just kind of a faint smell.

i guess im just being a little paranoid about mileage.

you are being a bit paranoid, enjoy the car; thats what matters the most. If you are worry about milage then buy another car and use the evo for the weekends.

mine kicked over 700 miles the 2nd day i owned it. trip to houston from SA for a best friends wedding. best road trip of my LIFE, but hardest because i had to be nice to the car the whole trip. TRIED keeping it under 4000 rpms and actually think it only got above that once. Seemed like everyone and their brother was revving on me that weekend, but i had to laugh and shake the head. ahhh such good times...

hmmm i had probably about 4k miles on my car in the first month.

I waited till almost 2500 to bring it over 3500rpms and till almost 3k to bring it over 4k rpms.

I baby my car though. But i drive it hard too.

wow! you guys are making feel bad.

This Sunday (5/15) will be 3 weeks I've had my Evo. I'm babying it to the best of my abilities/patience, currently at 540 mi.

I stayed under 3000rpm the first 500 mi (with maybe 10 exceptions when I just couldnt help it). Now I figure I'll stay under 5000rpm till 1000 mi

I've never smelt clutch (mainly I guess cause I've never done any hard launches) yet..

Get my new exhaust & downpipe installed next week, I cant wait..

Wow, I passed 1000 miles on my way up to Buttonwillow after 3 weeks of owning it. I pushed the car pretty hard, but it felt like she laughed and said "that's all you got!" Really guys, these cars are made to be driven and driven hard, if you wanted to baby the car you should've bought something else. Just my opinion.

Just don't launch the car and the clutch will last a while...

I didnt say I would always baby the car, just attemtping to brake the motor in properly so as to protect my investment in the long term. Thats just my opinion.
