well last week i was at a party and i drank at a party, knowing my own abilities under the influence, i quickly and responsibly choose a sober friend to be my "DD". handing him the keys.. we leave off to home with me knocked out sitting shotgun in my car. on the way home thru the 405 south my "DD" begins to joyride my car and drive wrecklessly around 1am. *according to my other passengers, since i was totally wasted and knocked out at the time* my "DD" attempts high speed manuvering thru light traffic and approximately 1/4 mile from the atlantic exit he swerves and loses control of the car. losing control he begins to drift left and right fighting the untamed RS beast, but his skills are inefficient at taming the evo. the car goes wildly into a CCW 360 towards the center k-rail. *this is where i awaken from a hard impaction and recognize the center divider from MY PASSENGER SIDE window* the front right of my baby just slammed into the divider and continues CCW bouncing off of the k-rail. my right rear end begins its journey towards the k-rail and hits hard, the force of impact flings my evo across (thankfully near empty traffic) all lanes towards the right shoulder, fearing more damage incurred from the freeway shoulders wall i brace for impact. the car stops abruptly 1ft. from the wall and i sigh a breath of relief.
THE NITEMARE IS OVER. reality sets in as blood alcohol level drop. OMG MY FRIEND JUST F*CKeD' UP CAR!!!

right so i just got my car (1 day ago) and i went into savon. it was a generally empty parking lot but there was a kid riding his razor through the parking lot. i kept looking nervously back at my baby. seriously if he hit my car, there would be no bounds to my anger and he would probably need an ambulance to leave the scene.

you might need to re-evaluate your friendship, and take the cash equilavent of said friendship

Coming from some one with four fast cars you couldnt understand. put your self in the place of say, a honda owner, and you got the chance to drive an evo... well, you would want to push it to the limit. no, you WOULD push it to the limit. so it might stand up in court. Your friend's insurance should pay for ALL the damages.

It's all about respect for other people's car or property. If he didn't have any permission to drive the car hard, he shouldn't have done it. Plus you let him drive your car with the understanding that he will get you to your home safely.

I think I've got a good POV for this. My buddy had a GT3. my buddy also LOVED getting drunk. this was back in the days of my 4 cyl Camry. hadn't driven anything very cool at all, and knew nothing about cars at their limits, or anywhere near them. Well I drove him home in the GT3 probably 5 or 6 times. pretty long distance too, maybe 30 miles. even with the valentine 1, I NEVER broke the speed limit and treated the thing like a baby. why you ask? a few reaons. respect for his property and friendship, the fact that if I had even nicked the paint, I couldn't have paid for it, and I had NO idea what it would have felt like at speed. And he knew this and always told me to drive the speed limit and take it easy, even though he drove the thing at 9/10's all the time.

Well now that he's taken me to the track and taught me stuff and ridden along with me, we switch cars quite a bit. when we first did, and we both knew it would be a fun little backroads drive, he told me, "hey, you wreck it, I get yours AND you buy me a new one." my reply was of course, "same goes for you, bitch" even though everytime he had a full brake job done he could have bought my car...

respect and knowledge. if you can't respect it, you have no reason driving it. if you respect it and don't know about it, drive it like a honda...

That sucks dude, my condolences. Obviously you cant kill him, jail sucks. However, you should consider hiring someone for the job. I hope everything works out for you, at the very least you should avoid that guy like the plague. At least you did the right thing on your part and have a dd instead of driving drunk, just imagine if you caused that accident and the cop who took the report had you take a breathalzer, than how fucked would you be. Thats why I keep a knife in the center console of the car, all the homies know that if theres any acting up when driving the evo (and believe me that list is extremely short, its up to one person at this time) death will come swiftly to avoid just such incidents.
