You need an RSS Client.

Some mail readers (such as Thunderbird) have RSS clients which you can subscribe to the site using the link given above.

So why is it that the RSS 2.0 feed only updates when the main page changes and totally ignores the forums?

Actually the RSS 2.0 feeds update when you set your client to update.

But how come the client doesn't feed the forums?

Gimme a sec, i'll take a screenshot. Basically its not viewing the forums *at all*. It only reads the home page. I cant see any threads or folders in the forums period.

Terry,

It looks like you are using the RSS URL for the portal, mambo, not the RSS for the forums, that's why you only get front page news, if you use the link supplied in the first post of the thread you will see the XML supplies articles from the actual forum.

To add RSS feeds to your website may actually require you to do some coding or installing a module to decode the XML.

The SMF feed itself is actually not fully RSS compliant so I had a Feedburner feed made, use this one:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/Socalevonet

Awesome, that link worked. O0

And yea, I was taking the RSS url from the home page since I figured that was the one I needed. Still trying to figure out this RSS stuff.

RSS is only meant to act like news. You click on the heading and it should take you directly to the thread. Depending on the interval you set your client to update, it will show you the latest threads.

OK, RSS feeds from the forum should work now:
