Thanks to MR.Blaze for helping me install these rotors. They are the slotted ones that Dan recommended for mostly street use and occassional track use.

We also installed new Performance Friction pads in the fronts and Project Mu B-Force in the rears. I bought these from RRE and these were what they recommended.

My first impression is this setup has more bite than the stock rotors with Endless SS-S pads.

I also bought the rear anti-sway bar from RRE. I thought we weren't gonna have time to install this today but we got it done. What a big difference from the stock anti-sway bar. I definitely feel less roll on turns. We had it set to the middle setting. I might try the stiff setting someday.

I will take pictures tomorrow after I clean the car.

Thanks Blaze.

Here are the pictures with the rotors installed.

This setup more than exceeded my expectations. I know they will be great for daily driving. Can't wait to try them on the tracks.

I'm wondering if it's the pads or the rotors that are making the difference. I'm thinking it's the pads.

That sway bar made a huge difference. Bogey waited until the last possible second to take an exit off the thirty. The car seemed to glide into the turn rather then pitch. It looked and behaved more like a cart from the family fun center then it's prior evo self.

I killed those rotors in one track event...developed a scary network of spider cracks, both front rotors. they may be fine for street use, but, at least in my case, did not do the job on the track.

Percy

Percy,

Were your rotors cross drilled, slotted or both?

I'd expected the drilled rotors would be prone to cracks.

IMO the only way to truly test the rotors and pads would be at the track, since you can compare to how well they react to heat and abuse.

They were niether....I boght them as blanks for the very reason you speak of, I was concerned about structural integrity.

Have you spoken to the manufacturer?

I realize these may not be as tough as the more expensive ones made by the more popular manufacturers.

But for what I need them for which is mostly daily driving on the streets, so far they get the job done.

But the extra bite may be because of the new pads I'm using now. My old Endless SS-S didn't feel as good as this new setup.

We'll see how long these rotors will last before I see any cracking. I didn't notice any cracks on my stock rotors but the stock pads wore them out so bad. This could be why the SS-S didn't perform so well. I will never know because from now on I'm using the Performance Friction pads that RRE sells.

I read some of Alex_alex's comments about these rotors. He said he did notice some craking on the front rotors but he managed to get 8k miles from them and I think 5-6 track days.

"Managed"?! Doesn't really sound like a safe setup to me...Maybe i just don't know anything about brakes. Is 8000 miles an aceptable amount of time on rotors? I would expect any aftermarket rotor to last longer than that, even if with a few track days.

I just bought a set of 2 front slotted/dimpled rotors from R1 concepts. I got a pretty good deal for them. I just hope I dont get any cracked ones. Oh well, its still a good price.

its still a good price.

This is why I bought these rotors. I'm hoping to get another 50K miles out of these rotors which includes maybe 3 or 4 track days. Maybe by then I would be able to afford the higher end rotors by Endless or others.

I hope Alex can read this thread and give us first hand review of these rotors.

If I'm not mistaken, they do have 90 days warranty.

I got my Project Mu rotors installed with Hawk HP+ pads on. I have about 3000 miles on them with 100 miles of tracking and some dessert drifting. I havent noticed any stress cracks or anything unusual yet. They stop when you want them to without fading even at high temps. This is a great setup. Kinda expensive tho.

Here's a little update:

After running with the slotted rotors, which includes 1 track day at Big Willows, I started noticing some vibration when I brake at 65+ mph so I thought that the front rotors may be warped. I took the rotors to Kragen to confirm, I found out that one of them was slightly warped and Dan replaced it with a new one.

The rears are still in perfect shape after 6k miles of hard stopping.

Dan and his crew were really nice and they stand behind their products.

If you're looking for good quality, less expensive replacements for your stock rotors, I would highly recommend buying from R1 Concepts.
