I just installed my hotchkins springs today. It was very simple. The worst part was pulling out those stupid little plastic plugs holding in the carpet in the trunk. I wouldn't fear spring compressors. The front spring is really big, with big spaces so it compresses easy. The rear you almost don't need the compresser. I compressed it about 1/2 inch to get the top off. Putting in the new spring I just pulled it down with my hands to compress it. It took about 3 hours and we wern't in a hurry. And the benifit besides getting a little greasy was learning a little more about the structure of the car.
