heres the thing fellas. I posted bout this already and didn't really get any help.. I got a defi boost gauge (mechanical) the fucker is sittin at 5lbs when the car is off.. my question is will the gauge just read 5lbs high when on or will it correct itself under actual pressure....
at vaccum its at -9 to -10 psi... under WOT it will spike to 24 for a milisecond and settle at 20..
with my old gauge I was set at 20-21 area.. so if this gauge is 5lbs high(as mentioned above) I must have a sick boost leak somewhere.. help me out ya'll.

im no expert by any means but it sounds like you need to return the gauge and get a new one. when the car is off, it should be at zero if im not mistaken. correct me if i'm wrong...My friends boost gauge was the same way (his rested at 5 also) (autometer though). He simply returned it and got a new one. Maybe you should do the same.

my gauge (brand new greddy electric) [in BARs] reads the equavalent of 9 PSI vacuum at idle and 5th gear acceleration reads ~24.5 PSI otherwise in other gears it'll go as high as 22 or so PSI only in 5th i can get it to go all the way to 25. i heard that the 10.5 hotside makes a difference on boost levels (producing unusually high numbers) but otherwise i would say, compared to my numbers, your numbers are perfectly fine indicating the gauge works fine under boost/vacuum.

but i would still try to return it, because for the price of a Defi, it should work flawlessly

thanks bro, thats what I was thinking too. I'm still going to try and exchange it.. I was worried I had a bad boost leak, cuz I just installed intercooler pipes last week. but I made sure each clamp was good and tight, so I don't have any problems...

naw, your boost numbers seem fine; but defi, for that money, should break after the car breaks.

thanks for the link bro, I'd try it, but I talked to the guy I got it from and he's gonna swap it for free.
