How many times must we tell you? THat is NOT how you measure your tread depth!

I had a patch on my first set of Yokos and went to Streets of Willow Springs twice and Willow Springs Big Track once.

No problems.

If they did a good job, it should be fine.

I asked the mechanic that patched the tire if I had to take it easy on it.

He told me that if it's done properly, it should be as good as before.

It depends on how badly the tire was damaged as well.

the nail wasnt on the sidewall like the pic posted, it was in right smack in the middle of the tire, as far as quality of the patch, I dont really know how to measure that, it was done by the local tire shop..

if I do need to get new tires do they need to be broken in before the event this saturday?

if I do need to get new tires what kind should I get? I could just use the patched yokos for the strett daily drivers

would like some more input.. dpardo says no problems, other say not to do it..

dont worry too much about the patch for your tire. it wont make any difference.
You dont have to get new tires just because you have a patch and you want to bring it to the track. i patch the tire too and bring it to track with no problem.

if you do get new tires, just get the RA-1 for track use only. No need to break in

My friends have ran there bikes on the track with patches in the tires. They get way hotter, lean over way more, use a smaller contact patch, and get subjected to more extreme loads as well as faster speeds..... Not to mention, a blow out at 150 on a bike is gonna equal a crappy day.

I'd say you'd be fine in your car.

Hey nino hows the bov?

I never had a problem with a patched tire, if it wasnt safe tire shops wouldn't recommend it. I patched many tires because roads not are perfect in chicago, and none has failed on me. Just remember the limit is from 1" from the sidewall for tire repairs, anything on the sidewall would be too dangerous.
