Alfred, given how out of the ordinary this is, in your opinion, do you think its the Piper cams that are making all the difference?

I think Alfred is just a good tuner and its not the cams. Ive seen too many failures with the pipers to think they made the difference. Maybe these are special though.

I can't believe Alfred is doing the tuning. Shouldn't he stick to VW's?

Alfred is without a doubt a great tuner (he tuned my car when i was running the 280s) but this car is making a LOT more power than even the other cars HE tunes

Well, apparently that 110 octane makes a big difference too.

Thanx gofaster...Danny....Moogle...and everyone else for the complements. The posted hp numbers are corrected with the STD method. SAE was 6hp less than what was posted. Uncorrected will be very slightly less. We have always reported in STD so we just stick to that for comparisons sake. Ill post up the uncorrected numbers later....but its not going to change things...its still great numbers.

i'll try to get the uncorrected numbers out today. although not perfectly suited for turbo cars the correction factors help give us some kind of consistancy to tune with. we were really surprised that the car did so well considering the temp was well over 100 degrees. i think that this car is a good example of how a well sorted out car can be tuned with an agressive owner giving the ok. we are just having some fun because there are still some tuners out there bashing the old afc and we decided to have some fun.

What were the cam gears set at ??? I need to get my 05 turbo install along with the head studs to see what difference the car can achieve...
Maybe even do an HKS vs Piper test

you need new springs and retainers for the pipers thats why I haven't purchased them from mark yet it will end up being a grand byt eh time its all said and done.

yeah tell me about it , thats one of the reasons i havent purchase them as well. Unless you plan on doing head work, might as well get over sized valves (1mm)

Oh absolutely, the only reason i ask for uncorrected is so i can compare my sheet to yours. apples to apples sort of thing. Congrats with the results! gives us stock-turbo guys some hope 8)

This is my street monster !!! I must take my hat off to the guys at Tuning Technologies. They really took it beyond my expectations. I had gone in there with a Flash and we tryed to tune around it with 100 octain, and just could not do it. I am really please not only with the numbers, but the overall drivability of the car. I am not sure if it is the cams but I am sure of the Tuners. Thanks again Alfred and Chris, oh lets also throw in a shout to Aaron as well.
