i'm thinking about it. i will be throwing my land rover on the dyno soon and it gets such f*cked up gas mileage anyway i figure it might be worth a try. according to the site i should try 3 ounces per ten gallons of gas.

where would you acquire pure acetone though?
would you really steal your wife's nail polish remover and dump it in your gas tank?

i'm strictly looking at it for the mileage and kind of something interesting to read. most of the time of it was the holy grail more people would be behind it. automakers always complain about new emissions and mileage standards if it were so easy to drop a little acetone in more people would do it.

That article was extremely interesting.... I would probably try it if i had a beater to drive around all day or even a rental car for a few weeks.

I would hate to try that on an evo, then a few weeks later find that website to have won the hoax of the year award. :(

My brother and I are trying this on his 1999 SR20 powered Sentra SE-L. So far he Jude got 32 mpg from the gas tank. He usually gets 27-28 on AVERAGE and he once got 30 mpg. This is about 15% improvement than before. That 32 mpg includes driving at 70-75 mph in mixed driving with the AC on and during rush hour traffic on the way home yesterday.

He filled from the same gas station and added another 3 oz of acetone. He will continue the test until we have an average. There are too many variables to make a scientific test, but he will fill from the same gas station, the same pump and drive at similar speeds with the AC on. He usually runs into rush hour traffic in the afternoon.

I can see it now! New ricer sticker:

"Powered by Nail Polish Remover"

I usually take my acetone 50/50 with orange juice and a splash of coke for color.
