View Full Version : anyone know how to strip paint safely from my wing.

If the wing is 100% carbon fiber...... does anyone know how to safely strip and protect the carbon fiber so I can get the "full" carbon fiber look?

im working on my wing right now :-\

you can probably use a paint stripper (SSwest did on his)

however i couldnt find a solvent that specifically said its safe for use on fiberglass/CF, so im sanfing mine. and let me tell you, you better be fully committed, because i've got about 15 hours put into it and im maybe 75% done sanding, then clearcoating and finishing sanding. i use 100-400 grit and sometimes a power sander, mainly hand sanding though. it is comming out very nice, it just takes a looooooooooooooooooong time.

it should take 20+ hours to finish. and dont think you will just sit there for 8 hours one day and finish half of it, because thats what i thought............doesnt happen, at least not during summertime when its 90-100
