so is the rumor true that AWDs dont have to get smog'd cause most shops dont have a dyno set up for AWD?

We still have to take the test but, it is the old skool way were they stick the hanger in the exhaust and rev it a few times!

it gets tested at idle and 2500 rpm, also a visual and functional test

but also unless you purchase a used Evo, non of us will see a smog place for at least 6 years ^-^

i don't think the big wing is a reason to get pulled over, had it on the car for over 2 years with no problems. But having the big wing, + loud exhaust, +dark tint + no plates is asking to be pulled over. Since most of the Evo owners have that problem or at least have been pulled over for the most part (not all ) but the majority

it does.* unless you've got some crazy cam profile that makes your emissions dirty at idle.

turbo doesn't spool much til 3000 rpm (more or less) on load (making the car move) so you won't get much fuel enrichment below that.*

so since the 2 speed idle emissions test that applies to our cars is:

1st stage - at idle
2nd stage - 2500 rpm

we should be burning clean.* i have 274 in/exh cams/ full port and polish/ magnaflow hi flow cat and i tested my car with a 5 gas analyzer and i found that i could pass emissions if i ever get busted.




ok so does this make it easier to pass???
