I thaught the EVO maxed out at 19PSI stock im peaking at 22psi ?

MY 03 when at WOT would spike to 19-19.5 and taper at like 17psi as it got up to redline. Now the other day I installed my DEFI Boost guage on my New 05 and Im reading 22psi then tapper to 18psi and after I installed my BR turbo back with HFC im spiking at 22.25psi then tappering to 18. I know the 05's got a bigger hot side on the turbo but I was under the impression the PSI was same as the 03 04 models.

My biggest concern is spiking that high if im running lean or gona have any probs running lean on a road coarse. I bet when I put a test pipe on at the track it spikes to at least 23psi.

seriously the 05s have a higher rated/advertised boost (20.3 vs 19 on the 03-04s).

OK but im still spiking at 22psi I know thats more HP O0 but I just want to make sure in within safe specs for A/F ratio with that much boost. Well I guess the EVO runs so damn rich from the factory Its prob ok.

some MRs or most of them where spiking at 24psi ... theres nothing for you to worry about ..

pretty much. sometimes i spike to 1.6, but usually i hit 1.5 and hold to ~5k.

10.5 naturally, its the only real way to drive the evo

i've adjusted my mbc so that it only spikes to 22. however, i've seen it spike to 22.8 once but that was when i was driving with a full car. i was told not to go above 22.5-23, but i notice quite a few ppl saying they spike above that and it's ok? does that mean i can turn my boost up? :P hehe

Consider yourself lucky. My car is having some serious issues. I peak 1.2 bar and hold a whopping 1.0 bar. Off to HB Mitsu I go.

don't worry where it spike. read what's constant. the next time you drive your Evo do a 3rd gear pull, after go on the freeway and do a 4th or 5th gear WOT you will see it will boost higher.

Maybe less exhaust back-pressure allowed your turbo to make more boost?

Stock 05 nailed in 5th gear on open "track" doesn't spike at 24PSI it stayed.

Holding 22 psi is a bit much for 91 octane. 21 psi held will make a smoother timing curve without timing pull.
