View Full Version : 2nd gear grinding?

anytime i shift from 1st - 2nd it grinds.. wat gives with this?? i know how to drive MT but it grinds. if i shift really slow into second it wont do it. but i shift normal 3500k then shift it does... wat should i do and stuff help!!

Could be from shifting too fast or synchro. Don't take it to Tustin Mitsubishi. They took 34 days to fix my Synchro.

HB is the dealer for you....go there...i think everyone on here vouches for them

oh yes...the grinding is metal to metal....i had this problem on my RSX and it was the syncros and thus causing the gears to be beaten to pulp....when they took it apart teeth were missing on my 2nd gear. Sound like a similar problem

this shouldnt cost me anything right cause its under warranty

yup....its usually a failure of the syncros. Transmission=warranty

its free, but it will probably take 1 to 2 weeks to fix and ship parts from japan. or new jersey, they lie sometimes.

yes, usually a lancer or a galant. have fun with the e brake :) i got an evo RS because mine took wayyyyy too long

Better yet, have them replace the syncros under warranty first, then switch to BG Syncroshift
