I ordered 103 badges. 001-100 for the members and 3 founder badges. The plate mfg sent an over run of 125 badges to my local trophy shop. After examining them closley last Saturday, I rejected 30 of the badges that did not meet my standards. This means that for the time being we only have about 95 badges. Fortunatly, only about 50 of them have been sold, so I provided the trophy shop with a list of all numbers that have been paid for. I hope to have these in my posession this weekend.

I have also arranged with Sam to hold the badge meet at SRT motorsports.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
On Saturday I was able to take a look at the badges after engraving the numbers, but before darkening the engraved area. I'm not happy with what I found. Originally out of 125 badges there were supposed to be 30 rejects leaving us with 95 good badges. I have poseted links to large close up pics of some of the problems I noticed.

Badge #088
On the top left corner near the Mitsu logo there are small nicks in the metal under the clear coat.
The white tach/.net logo is not indented, only silk screened and poor quality.

Badge #097
The color in SoCal Evo is wrinkled
Dust in clear coat
Specs of red and orange under the clear coat.

I personally looked at the first 50 badges and every one had a small imperfection, every one!

If you don't look real close that look beautiful. I'm going to talk to the owner on Monday and express my unhappiness with him. I may just be over reacting and too criticle because I work in the bio-medical field where close doesn't cut it. I may have a fight on my hands getting them to redo them all, and if the do remake them, it's gonna take at least as long this time as it did the first time to get these made. Well this is not something I really wanted to post... actually I've been avoiding it since last night because I feel like shit having to post this. But that's the way it is. Below are huge close up 2MB each so y'all can see what I'm talkin' about.

From 3-4 feet away, they look tits! From 1 foot, I can see a small flaw in each one. Mind you I had to look to find the flaws, but they were there to be found. I've been entrusted to make this deal happen, and I just don't let y'all down. If y'all don't mind a spec of dust under the clear coat, or a portion on the white tach logo missing, or a small nick in the bushed gold plated metal surface, them I'm ok with it too. mind you that every badge will have some kind of small defect. Most of you might not ever notice or care. But I feel a responsibility to you to keep you informed of my observations.

Grant, I can see what you are saying. From afar, they look just fine, but up close, it looks like they just rushed the job and got sloppy. It just doesn't look right for some reason. Like they say, its all in the details.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the place that did them can do them any better without expending a serious amount of time and money in getting them more precise looking.

I just got off of the phone with my local trophy shop and the owner aggrees with me about the lack of quality in the badges. FWIW, the same trophy shop made the trophies for last weekend's Red Line Time Attack and those trophies turned out nice. Unfortunatly my local trophy shop subletted the badges out to an out of state company for the fabrication. My local shop will be contacting the out of state fabricator today and asking them to re-do the whole lot. I'll keep you posted on the out come. Sorry for all the delays and hassles, this is NOT the way I usually do business.

I'm not sure about a date right now, I'm still trying to get these redone to my specifications. I personally inspected #001 - #050. Out of these 50 badges I did not find one that was without flaw. So #28 fits in there with the imperfections. Some flaws were easy to see, some took a little closer look to reveal the impurities. Bottom line is that not a one of them were flawless.

The badges are being sent back to place that manufactured them in the east coast. I want them to see what we are complaining about so that it does not happen again. I'd really like to set a date as to when y'all will receive them, but just as Murphy's law would dictate, I set a date prematurly last week and now we are going back to square one. Originally I was told it would be a 2 week turn around time, it was more like a month. This time I will ESTIMATE 30 more days until I have the completed product in my hands. There are still many numbers available, however only the numbers listed, no exceptions.

We received the plates today and I do not have very good news to report. The condition of the plates is somewhat better and in some cases, worse. The clearcoat remains an issue. It is better, but not perfect and there is are flaws that were not on the last batch. When we received them, the box was damaged and some of the plates were missing. My father has already called the company to express our concerns with these plates and the person he spoke with pulled one of the overrun plates and noticed the areas mentioned. They will have to be remade but we wanted to talk with you first to see what you wanted to do. I am totally frustrated and very upset that they are not inspecting these before they leave their plant and taking the time to package them in a way so they do not get damaged in transit.

Please give us a call or if you can stop by to take a look and let us know what you want us to do.

OK, I called my local trophy shop and we are not going to give the outside vendor a 3rd chance. 2 strikes, they're out! My trophy shop knows of a place in Texas that is going to be the next shop to make these for us. I'll keep you posted as to the status as more info becomes available.

The east coast shop that has messed up the 1st 2 orders were told that they were not going to be paid by my local trophy shop and we were going someplace else. They wanted one more chance to make them right so it wasn't a total loss for them. They are remaking new dies that include the gauge portion of the logo and it is all supposed to be one die. I'm also still waiting to hear from EVO GRIM at NorCalEvo as he is the person that had their badges made.
