caymans are ok, but I always wanted to have a 911 turbo. Ecu chip and exhaust and I should break 450whp easy.

After the evo, I got a 2005 BMW M3, it was great, but I missed the turbo rush. It was just a little too slow (my evo put down 380whp)

Picked this up on saturday. Now I got All wheel drive turbo and torque! :)

Someone just schooled me in the Baller Olympics... :-\

Wow - Nice choice!!! I love 911 Turbos. Keep in mind that the maintenance is a bear. I did a lot of research into a new 997 Carrera S vs. a 996 Twin Turbo and the Turbo had almost double the maintenance costs! :-o

I am sure you'll really like it - daily driveable and able to lay a beatdown on 99% of cars on the road. Congrats!

Mainteance is definetly not that cheap, but it's not super insane either. I won't be putting more then 7-8K miles a year on the car though. It has always been my dream car. It's nice when it's finally in your garage :)

it's normal for the most part,30K sparkplugs(which take about 6 hours to replace costing over $600) timing belt at 60K first major, oil change is expensive takes 11 quarts, because it is a dry sump system. It gets expensive when parts break, transmission is $9,000. Engine is like $25,000 for a new one.

The quotes I got from the Porsche dealer follow (first is 997 Carrera S, then 996 Turbo):

15,000 miles $1000/$1700
30,000 miles $1250/$1900
60,000 miles $1900/$2900 (the Turbo gets the turbos checked - engine out)

OUCH!!!!!!

kaane

you dont need to yank the motor to check the turbos, they are directly on the bottom and are super easy to change, I could swap them out in 2 hours with basic hand tools. The 60K miles you do need to change main engine belt, which I presume might need to motor to be dropped. My car has 15K miles, so it will be 3 years atleast before i need to worry about it.

dude ....i realize that people dont wanna be n00bs. but you dont have to give ten responses that are all practically one liners. and two of them were on this page ...back to back. just take it easy ...and your status will eventually show something other than 'newbie'.

a little harsh? Im my opinion, "n00b" = not knowing that Porsche Turbos are Twin turbocharged All-Wheel-Drive cars.

hey whatever ill admit it ...i know almost nothing about porsches. so im a porsche n00b. and im sorry if you think it was harsh. ive played so many damn online games that 'n00b' is a force of habit anymore.

Nice Porsche....not many cars could qualify as an upgrade from an EVO (esp performance wise) but a Porsche turbo definitely could be one of them....especially after upgrades :)
