oh man... that machine is a beauty and a beast at the same time!

did anyone see the 1000hp car (Bugatti Veyron) that was featured on the last Top Gear?
that shit is crazier... flat out will run full tank to empty in 12 minutes
it got eight radiators, 16 cylinders, four turbochargers and does 0-60 in three seconds

quote
"
Bugatti Veyron

It started as an off-the-cuff comment by VW boss Ferdinand Piëch about how great it would be to make a car that could do 400kph and had a 1000 horsepower. The Veyron has managed to achieve the impossible; a car so good even Jeremy couldn't find fault with it. It's so good, the Stig cried after driving it.

And that's what makes the Veyron special, it's an engineering feat. Apparently VW are losing money on every one they sell. But thank goodness, in this day and age that someone is prepared to create something, not just to make money, but because they want to see if they can.

But its better than that, its not just a way of proving their engineering prowess, it's a seriously great car and Jeremy has not stopped going on about just how great. The statistics alone make a man weak at the knees. For example, the Veyron has staggeringly good brakes, they can bring the car from 250mph to a complete stop in just ten seconds. It gets even better, at full speed, the Bugatti will empty its 100 litre fuel tank in just 12 minutes. It goes without saying, a 100 litres of petrol costs £100.

The fact is though, very few people will ever own a Veyron. It does, after all, cost the large part of a million quid. But that isn't the point. The point is that it is to cars what Concorde was for planes. Something that will be recorded in the history books as a feat of human endeavour.

correct me if i'm wrong, but they made the street-legal CLK-GTRs and the 911 GTRs for homologation purposes, no?

There is no porn. Its work. Just look at ultraflip, he can access it. If he can access it, then this surely is work safe. Once again, no porn, unless you considering the naked cars as porn!

i don't understand the homologation rules, but...

other street vehicles made as a result of homologation rules (in no apparent order):

1. lancer
2. skyline GT-R (OG edition circa 1970's and the R32)
3. celica gt4
4. pulsar GTI
5. panoz
6. jaguar xj220
7. and the nissan LeMans supercar... the R390 GT1.

those seven i can think of off the top of my head, besides the CLK-GTR and the 911 GTR. a few i can't be quite sure (i.e. ferrari f40, mclaren f1, porsche 959)...

God bless homologation rules!*

Yea, it was just a joke. There isn't an automotive porn filter. However, it is blocked under the "Vehicles" filter. :(

bit of Ferrari trivia:
the Ferrari Fseries (F40, F50, and soon the F60) are anniversary ferrari. ie. the F50 literally stands for "Ferrari 50 years". the F60 should be due in a year or so, and no the F60 is not the Enzo, that was seemingly created for the heck of it. neither is the FXX the F60.

i believe the mclaren F1/F1 LM was a homologation, since it came in a LM (le mans) edition, for the 24 hour race. i dunno about the 959, but they did use it in the dakar rally :).

also some other homologations are the rare muscle cars, as part of 60's and 70's nascar homologation

i thought that as the mclaren f1 was built and produced as a street-legal supercar first, it passed homologation rules based on the technicality that it didn't have to fulfill the minimum production requirement. thus, the LM edition was allowed to race.

i thought the 959 started out as a race car, then was watered down and "mass produced" to pass homologation rules. only evidence i can find that supports this argument is that the 959 was BARELY street legal (and not street legal in the US).
